The morning sun peeked through the curtains of the cozy little house where Lala and her sister, Mina, lived. The weekend had finally arrived, and the air felt extra bright, filled with the promise of fun and laughter. Lala, the older sister, stretched her arms and smiled mischievously. Today was going to be special—she had a secret plan that Mina knew nothing about.
For the past week, Mina had been talking nonstop about donuts. Every time they passed by the bakery on the way home, she would press her nose to the glass, her eyes sparkling at the trays of sugary rings. “One day, I want to eat a whole plate of donuts!” Mina had exclaimed. Lala had only chuckled, tucking that wish safely in her heart.
Now, it was time to turn Mina’s dream into reality.
The Secret Plan
Lala tiptoed into the kitchen, determined to surprise Mina with homemade donuts. She had never made donuts before, but she wasn’t afraid. She had watched cooking videos late at night, taken notes in her little pink notebook, and even borrowed flour from their kind neighbor, Auntie Rose.
She set the ingredients on the counter: flour, sugar, eggs, butter, milk, and yeast. The shiny mixing bowl gleamed like it was ready for action. Lala tied her apron around her waist, rolled up her sleeves, and whispered, “Alright, donuts, here I come.”
The First Steps
The first challenge was mixing the dough. She poured the flour in, added sugar, cracked eggs (carefully so the shells didn’t fall in), and sprinkled in the yeast. Slowly, she mixed everything together until a soft dough formed. At first, it stuck to her fingers, but she kept kneading, pressing and folding until the dough became smooth and stretchy.
“Phew! This is harder than I thought,” Lala said, wiping a bead of sweat from her forehead. She placed the dough in a bowl, covered it with a cloth, and waited for it to rise. While the dough was resting, she prepared the toppings: melted chocolate, a bowl of rainbow sprinkles, and powdered sugar that sparkled like snow.

Mina’s Curiosity
Meanwhile, Mina woke up, rubbing her eyes. She could hear faint clattering in the kitchen and sniffed the air. Something smelled… sweet. “What’s Lala doing?” she wondered. She padded toward the kitchen but stopped when she heard Lala humming happily.
“Better not disturb her,” Mina thought. She giggled to herself, deciding it must be another one of her sister’s silly experiments, like the time she tried to make rainbow noodles. Little did she know, the surprise was all for her.
The Donut Magic
After an hour, the dough had doubled in size. Lala gasped in delight. “It worked!” she whispered. She rolled the dough out with a rolling pin, cut out round shapes with a glass, and poked holes in the middle with a smaller cup. The little circles looked almost like real donuts already.
Then came the tricky part: frying. She heated oil in a deep pan and gently placed the dough pieces inside. They sizzled and puffed up, turning golden brown. The sweet, warm smell filled the entire kitchen, wrapping the house in an irresistible aroma.
When the donuts cooled slightly, Lala dipped some in melted chocolate, sprinkling colorful sugar stars on top. Others she dusted with powdered sugar until they looked like little snow-covered rings. She even made one extra special with pink icing shaped like a heart.
On the tray, the donuts looked magical—like something from a bakery window, but filled with Lala’s love.
The Big Reveal
Mina finally couldn’t resist. She poked her head into the kitchen and gasped. “La… Lala! Are those… donuts?”
Lala grinned from ear to ear, holding the tray proudly. “Surprise! I made them just for you!”
Mina’s eyes widened, shining like the morning stars. “No way! You really did this? For me?” She clapped her hands and ran over, nearly tripping in excitement.
“Yes, for you. I remembered how much you wanted donuts. Go ahead, taste one!”
Mina grabbed a chocolate-covered donut, took a huge bite, and closed her eyes in bliss. The fluffy dough melted in her mouth, and the sweetness danced on her tongue. “Mmm! Lala, this is the best donut I’ve ever eaten!”
Lala giggled, relieved that her hard work had paid off. “Really? You like it?”
“Like it? I LOVE it!” Mina shouted, grabbing another one dusted with powdered sugar.

A Sweet Morning Together
The sisters sat at the kitchen table, munching happily. Mina licked chocolate from her fingers, her cheeks puffed like a chipmunk’s. Lala couldn’t help laughing at her messy little sister.
“You’re going to eat the whole tray if you’re not careful,” Lala teased.
“Well, you DID make them for me,” Mina replied with a cheeky grin.
They shared donuts, giggles, and a warm cup of milk. The simple kitchen became their special little café, filled with love and laughter.
Mina’s Thank You
After finishing her third donut, Mina leaned back with a happy sigh. She looked at her sister with soft eyes. “Lala, thank you. You always think of me. You didn’t have to do this, but you did, and it makes me feel so loved.”
Lala reached out and ruffled Mina’s hair. “That’s because I do love you, silly. Besides, it was fun making them. Maybe next time we can do it together.”
Mina nodded eagerly. “Yes! Next time, I’ll help. Maybe we can try donut holes, or ones with jam inside!”

Sharing the Joy
Later that afternoon, the sisters packed a small box of donuts and brought them to Auntie Rose as a thank-you for the flour. The old lady smiled warmly and said, “You two girls brighten up the whole neighborhood with your kindness.”
On the way home, Mina hugged the empty donut box to her chest and whispered, “This was the best surprise ever.”
Lala smiled, knowing she had created not just donuts, but a memory they would both treasure forever.
A Promise for the Future
That night, as they prepared for bed, Mina whispered, “Lala, do you think when we’re grown up, we can open our own donut shop? We can call it ‘Sisters’ Sweets.’”
Lala laughed softly. “Why not? If we work together, we can do anything.”
Mina hugged her tightly. “Then it’s a promise!”
And so, the day ended with full bellies, happy hearts, and dreams of a future sprinkled with sugar and sisterly love.
