CUTIS was no ordinary farmer. He was clever, playful, and always coming up with strange ideas that made people in the village shake their heads but laugh at the same time. His best companion was a mischievous little baby monkey named Lala. The two were inseparable—if CUTIS was working in the fields, the baby monkey was right behind him. If CUTIS was napping under the tree, the monkey was curled up on his chest.
One hot afternoon, after finishing a long day of farm chores, CUTIS sat under the mango tree wiping sweat from his forehead. The monkey sat beside him, munching on a stolen banana from the neighbor’s yard. CUTIS sighed.
“Lala,” he said, scratching his head. “Life is good, but wouldn’t it be more fun if we had a secret treasure? Something only you and I know about!”
The monkey tilted his head, his big round eyes sparkling with curiosity. He screeched happily, as if saying, “Yes! Yes! Treasure!”
From that moment, CUTIS and the monkey made a pact: they would secretly create a treasure that nobody else in the village would ever imagine.
Step 1: Planning the Treasure
The first challenge was deciding what the treasure would be. CUTIS didn’t have piles of gold coins or shiny jewels. But he did have a wild imagination.
“What makes a treasure special?” he asked aloud. “It has to be rare, meaningful, and make people laugh!”
The monkey clapped his hands. He scampered around gathering random objects: a broken slipper, a shiny bottle cap, a half-eaten guava, and even CUTIS’s old hat.
CUTIS laughed so hard his stomach hurt. “No, no, my little thief. That looks like junk, not treasure.”
But then he thought again. What if the treasure wasn’t about gold or silver, but about memories and fun? CUTIS had a new idea: they would create a chest filled with the funniest, most unusual things that only the two of them understood. Their treasure would be a secret box of laughter.

Step 2: Gathering Items
Over the next few days, CUTIS and the monkey started sneaking around the farm and the village, collecting strange items.
- From the chicken coop, they took an egg that had a perfect heart-shaped crack.
- From the cow field, they picked up a small stone that looked exactly like a potato.
- From CUTIS’s tool shed, they grabbed an old hammer whose handle was bent like a question mark.
- And from the monkey’s endless adventures, they collected a shiny marble he had found under a tree.
The funniest item of all was a pair of socks. Not just any socks—these socks were so old that each had more holes than fabric. But whenever CUTIS put them on his hands and made them dance like puppets, the monkey would roll on the ground laughing, shrieking with joy.
“Perfect,” CUTIS said. “Our treasure chest will not just be filled with things. It will be filled with stories.”
Step 3: The Secret Chest
Now they needed a container. CUTIS found an old wooden box in the barn, dusty and cracked but still strong enough to hold their precious collection. With a little cleaning, some paint, and a lot of creativity, they transformed it into something magical.
CUTIS painted funny faces on the sides, while the monkey dipped his tiny fingers into the paint and made handprints all over it. The lid was decorated with swirls, doodles, and even monkey pawprints. It was messy, colorful, and absolutely hilarious—just like the two of them.
CUTIS stood back proudly. “Behold, the Treasure of CUTIS and Monkey!”
The monkey clapped, then promptly tried to climb inside the box himself.

Step 4: The Treasure Hunt
Of course, what was a treasure without a secret hiding place? CUTIS decided they would bury the chest somewhere no one could find it. But to make it even funnier, he and the monkey would create a map.
The map wasn’t ordinary either. Instead of clear directions, CUTIS filled it with riddles and silly drawings. For example:
- A picture of a cow with sunglasses meant “walk past the cow field at noon.”
- A doodle of a mango with a smiley face meant “turn left at the big mango tree.”
- And a sketch of a monkey with a crown meant “dig under the rock shaped like a throne.”
The monkey added his own touch, scribbling nonsense lines and stamping banana smears all over the paper. To anyone else, the map would be impossible to understand. But to CUTIS and the monkey, it was perfectly clear.
One moonlit night, they tiptoed out with their treasure chest and buried it under the “throne rock.” After covering the hole with soil, they danced around it like two pirates celebrating victory.
Step 5: The Village Finds Out
For days, CUTIS and the monkey giggled whenever they passed by the throne rock, knowing their treasure was buried there. They felt like secret adventurers with the funniest loot in the world.
But secrets in small villages don’t last forever. One morning, little children spotted CUTIS and the monkey making strange hand gestures near the rock. The kids became curious.
“What are you hiding, Uncle CUTIS?” they asked.
CUTIS scratched his beard nervously. The monkey hid behind him, holding the map.
“Oh, nothing… just teaching my monkey how to dance!” CUTIS said quickly.
But the children didn’t believe him. Soon, word spread through the village that CUTIS and his monkey were guarding a treasure. By evening, half the villagers had gathered around the throne rock, demanding to see what it was.
CUTIS tried to resist. “It’s private! You wouldn’t understand!”
But the monkey, perhaps out of excitement or mischief, ran to the rock and started digging furiously. In no time, the chest was uncovered.
The villagers gasped as CUTIS opened the box. They had expected gold or money. Instead, they saw socks, stones, marbles, and silly doodles.
At first there was silence. Then one old man burst out laughing. Soon the entire crowd joined in. Children pointed at the dancing sock puppets, women chuckled at the potato-shaped stone, and the men clapped their hands at the ridiculous map.

Step 6: A Treasure of Laughter
What began as a secret joke between CUTIS and the monkey became a gift to the whole village. People who had been worried about their crops or debts suddenly forgot their problems and laughed together under the big mango tree.
The old wooden chest became famous as “The Treasure of Laughter.” Villagers began to add their own funny items inside: a bent spoon, a rooster feather shaped like a mustache, even a clay pot that made a farting sound when tapped.
Every week, the village gathered to open the chest, share stories, and laugh together.
CUTIS grinned from ear to ear. “See, Lala? We may not have gold, but we created something more precious. We created joy.”
The baby monkey hugged CUTIS’s arm tightly, squealing in delight.
Epilogue
From that day on, CUTIS and his baby monkey were no longer just a farmer and his pet—they were the keepers of the village’s laughter. Whenever life grew heavy, people knew they could open the treasure chest and find something silly to make them smile.
And so, the special treasure remained—not hidden away in secrecy, but shared openly as the funniest, most heartwarming treasure anyone could ever hope for.
After all, gold shines only in the light. But laughter? Laughter shines forever.
