The sun had just begun to rise over the green fields, casting soft golden light across the farm where CUTIS lived. As usual, the hardworking farmer was preparing for another long day of harvest. His fields were heavy with ripe crops—corn, cassava, and a few rows of beans that had all grown well under his care. CUTIS tied his straw hat under his chin and gathered his tools.
But this morning was not like any other. A little baby monkey, playful yet curious, clung tightly to his leg and refused to let go. CUTIS chuckled and bent down.
“Little one,” he said gently, “today is a busy day. The harvest will take all my strength. You should stay home and play where it’s safe.”
The baby monkey shook his head and let out a squeaky sound of determination. His small fingers clutched CUTIS’s pants even tighter, eyes sparkling with insistence. It was clear: he wanted to follow.
A Persistent Companion
CUTIS sighed with affection. Ever since he had rescued the baby monkey months earlier, the little creature had followed him everywhere—into the barn, around the garden, even into the kitchen sometimes. But helping with the harvest? That seemed too big a task for such tiny hands.
“Alright then,” CUTIS said finally, smiling at his stubborn friend. “If you insist, you may come. But you must listen and not cause trouble.”
The baby monkey clapped his hands together with joy. In no time, he leapt onto CUTIS’s shoulder as the farmer carried his basket toward the fields.
Harvest Begins
The cornfield stood tall, rows of golden ears waiting to be gathered. CUTIS began to work, pulling ears from the stalks and tossing them into the basket. The baby monkey watched carefully, his head tilting from side to side. Then, eager to prove himself, he hopped down to the ground.
To CUTIS’s surprise, the little monkey wrapped his small arms around a cob of corn, yanked with all his strength, and managed to pluck it free. Proudly, he dragged it across the dirt and dropped it into the basket.
CUTIS laughed out loud. “Well done, little helper! You truly are determined.”
With each passing hour, the baby monkey tried to mimic CUTIS’s movements. Sometimes he succeeded, other times he toppled over in the dirt or dropped corn halfway. But CUTIS never scolded him. Instead, he praised the effort. Together, they formed an unusual but heartwarming harvesting team.

The Trouble in the Field
By midday, the sun was blazing hot. CUTIS wiped his forehead and took a sip of water, offering a few drops to his furry companion. Just as they were about to continue, a rustling noise came from the far edge of the field.
CUTIS narrowed his eyes. Wild boars. A small herd had emerged, drawn by the scent of fresh crops. They were large, strong, and hungry, and CUTIS knew they could destroy his harvest within minutes. He grabbed a stick, ready to chase them off, but the boars advanced quickly, grunting and pawing at the soil.
The baby monkey sensed danger. Instead of hiding behind CUTIS, he leapt onto a scarecrow post, screeching and waving his arms wildly. His cries echoed across the field, startling the boars. CUTIS joined in, banging his stick against a bucket. The combined noise and sudden movement frightened the herd, and they turned back into the forest.
Breathless, CUTIS looked at the little monkey and laughed. “You brave little one! Today you saved the harvest.”
A Surprise Discovery
As the afternoon stretched on, CUTIS decided to move from corn to cassava. The baby monkey, covered in dust but still full of energy, continued to imitate him. While CUTIS dug up roots with his hoe, the monkey scratched at the soil with his tiny hands.
Suddenly, the monkey squealed excitedly. CUTIS walked over to see what he had uncovered. At first, it looked like just another cassava root. But as CUTIS brushed away the soil, he noticed something unusual—beneath the plant was a small wooden box, weathered with age.
CUTIS’s eyes widened. Carefully, he pulled it out and opened the lid. Inside lay a handful of old silver coins, clearly hidden long ago by someone who had once lived near the land. CUTIS gasped.
“This… this is unbelievable!” he whispered.
The baby monkey clapped his hands, bouncing in circles as if he knew he had discovered something precious. CUTIS couldn’t stop smiling. Not only had the little monkey insisted on helping him harvest, but he had also uncovered a hidden treasure buried beneath the soil.

The Unbelievable Ending
That evening, as the sun dipped low and painted the sky orange, CUTIS returned home with a heavy basket of crops and the wooden box of coins. The baby monkey rode proudly on his shoulder, still chattering with excitement.
Word quickly spread through the village about CUTIS’s surprising discovery. Neighbors came to see the old coins, marveling at how fate had led the baby monkey to dig them up. Some said it was luck, others called it destiny. CUTIS, however, looked at his small companion and knew the truth.
“It was your determination,” he said softly, scratching the monkey’s head. “You insisted on helping me, and because of that, we found more than just food today. We found a story to remember forever.”
That night, CUTIS cooked a delicious meal of corn and cassava, sharing it with his furry little friend. The baby monkey sat proudly at the table, nibbling happily. Though he was small, he had proven that even the tiniest hands could make the biggest difference.
The harvest was saved, the treasure discovered, and the bond between farmer and monkey stronger than ever. CUTIS realized something important: sometimes, when someone insists on helping, even if they seem too small or inexperienced, it’s worth letting them try.
And so, the unbelievable ending of that day wasn’t just the treasure in the box—it was the reminder that love, persistence, and teamwork could turn an ordinary harvest into an extraordinary adventure.
