The jungle was alive with the buzz of summer. Sunlight dappled through the thick canopy, birds chirped, and a gentle breeze carried the scent of flowers and fruit. Everything seemed perfect… until little Mimi, the playful young monkey, made one small mistake that would turn her day upside down.
Mimi was curious by nature, and her curiosity often led her into trouble. She loved climbing trees, sniffing flowers, and exploring every corner of the forest. Today, she had spotted something new—a bright, golden honeycomb hanging from a tree branch, glistening like a treasure in the sun. Bees buzzed busily around it, working tirelessly to make their sweet honey.
“Wow!” Mimi squeaked, eyes wide with excitement. “Honey! I want to see it up close!”
Her mother, Cici, warned her. “Careful, Mimi! Bees can sting if they feel threatened. Stay back!”
But Mimi, caught up in her excitement, didn’t listen. She leaped onto the branch nearest the honeycomb, ignoring the angry buzzing that grew louder by the second. She reached toward the golden treasure—and that’s when it happened.
The bees, sensing danger to their hive, swarmed. Mimi squealed as they stung her tiny face. She leapt back in panic, rubbing her cheeks with her little hands. Within minutes, her face began to swell. Her eyes looked like small slits, and her cheeks puffed out comically, making her expression both pitiful and funny at the same time.
“Ahhh! Mama! It hurts! My face!” Mimi cried, hopping from branch to branch. Her tiny arms flailed, and she tried to wipe away the stings, but the swelling only seemed to get worse.
Cici rushed over as fast as she could. “Mimi! What happened?!” she exclaimed, her heart racing.
“The bees! They bit me! My face… it’s huge!” Mimi sobbed, pointing at her swollen cheeks.
Cici gently grabbed her daughter and inspected her face. Sure enough, Mimi’s cheeks were puffed up like little balloons, and her eyes were barely visible behind the swelling. “Oh, my poor baby,” Cici said softly, hugging her tightly. “Don’t worry. We’ll take care of you.”
The other monkeys gathered around, concerned and curious. Some whispered, “Wow, her face looks so funny!” Others said, “Bees are dangerous! Don’t go near them again!”
Cici knew she had to act quickly. Swelling from bee stings could be serious, so she decided to take Mimi to the riverbank where natural remedies could help. Carefully, she led Mimi down the trees, supporting her little one as she hopped along.

“Stay calm, Mimi,” Cici instructed. “Panicking will only make the swelling worse. Take deep breaths.”
Mimi sniffled, still upset, but she tried to follow her mother’s instructions. Together, they reached the riverbank, where Cici had prepared a soothing mixture of crushed leaves and cool water. She gently applied the mixture to Mimi’s cheeks, murmuring words of comfort.
“There, little one,” she said softly. “This will help the pain and swelling.”
Mimi blinked through her puffed-up eyes. The cool leaves felt strange but soothing against her skin. Gradually, she felt the stinging ease a little. The swelling would take time, but at least the immediate pain was starting to subside.
As Mimi rested, Cici sat beside her and began explaining. “Mimi, you must remember, curiosity is wonderful, but you have to be careful. Bees work hard for their honey. They only sting to protect it. Next time, you must watch from a safe distance.”
“I’m sorry, Mama,” Mimi mumbled, still embarrassed. “I didn’t mean to get stung.”
Cici smiled gently. “I know, baby. You’re learning. Every mistake teaches us something. Today, you learned about bees—and about being careful.”
By the afternoon, the swelling had started to go down. Mimi’s cheeks were still puffy, giving her a slightly comical expression, but she was able to see normally again. Her friends came by to check on her, offering fruits and berries as comfort gifts.
“Look at Mimi!” one little monkey exclaimed, giggling. “Your face is so funny!”
Mimi laughed too, despite herself. “I know! I look like a balloon!” she said, poking her cheeks gently. Even though the experience had been painful, she found a little humor in her swollen face.

The rest of the day, Cici stayed close to Mimi, making sure she rested and drank plenty of water. She even brought her a few sweet berries to distract her from the discomfort. Slowly but surely, Mimi began to recover.
As the sun set, casting golden light across the jungle, Mimi snuggled against her mother. “Mama… I won’t touch the bees again,” she whispered.
Cici hugged her tightly. “That’s my clever little monkey. Always curious, but now a little wiser too.”
Even though the bee sting had been frightening, the day ended with laughter and learning. Mimi’s friends teased her gently, calling her “Balloon Face,” and Mimi giggled every time. She realized that accidents happen, but with love, care, and a little patience, everything could be okay.
The next morning, Mimi was back to her playful self, climbing trees and swinging on vines. But this time, she kept a safe distance from the honeycombs, watching the bees buzz from afar. She had learned a valuable lesson: adventure and curiosity are wonderful, but caution is just as important.
Cici watched her daughter, proud of how quickly she recovered and how much she had learned. “One day,” she thought, “Mimi will be as wise as she is brave.”
And so life in the jungle continued. Bees buzzed, monkeys played, and the river sparkled under the sun. Mimi had survived her painful encounter with the bees, and although her face had looked hilariously swollen for a time, she had also learned the importance of patience, care, and listening to her mother.
By evening, as the jungle settled into quiet, the older monkeys would sometimes chuckle about the day Mimi’s cheeks had puffed up like little balloons. And whenever Mimi passed a honeycomb, she would smile, remembering her lesson and whispering, “Thank you, Mama. I’ll be careful next time.”
Because even in the wildest, busiest jungle, a mother’s care and a little wisdom can turn a painful day into a safe and memorable adventure.
