The forest had always been full of surprises—singing birds, rolling clouds of butterflies, and the loud chatter of excited monkeys leaping through the trees. But that morning held a different kind of energy, an almost electric buzz that ran through the troop. Every monkey felt it. Something unusual was going to happen.
And the star of that unusual moment?
A tiny baby monkey named Riko.
Riko was known for being a gentle, shy little sweetheart. He clung to his mother’s chest like a warm shadow and rarely explored without CUTIS by his side. No one expected him to be brave. No one thought he would ever break the rules.
But today… Riko shocked everyone.
The Mysterious Curiosity

It all began near the riverbank, where the troop gathered for breakfast. Mama Monkey was peeling a sweet mango while CUTIS kept an eye on the younger monkeys, Riko included.
But Riko’s eyes were not on the mango.
They were locked onto something across the river—something shiny, colorful, and irresistible to a baby monkey’s heart.
A human family had visited the area the day before and left behind a bright red bucket near the opposite riverbank. Inside were scattered fruits—bananas, apples, and pieces of papaya. The bucket gleamed under the sunlight like a treasure chest meant just for Riko.
CUTIS noticed the sparkle in Riko’s eyes.
“Don’t even think about it,” CUTIS warned, raising a finger.
Riko blinked innocently.
CUTIS narrowed his eyes. “No. Don’t do that cute face.”
Mama Monkey laughed softly. “He’s just watching. He won’t go.”
CUTIS crossed his arms. “He will. He definitely will. That’s his trouble face.”
And CUTIS was right.
The First Daring Move

When CUTIS turned his back for just one second to help another baby, Riko made his move. He wiggled out of Mama’s lap, tiptoed to the river, and put his tiny feet into the shallow water.
Mama gasped. “Riko?!”
CUTIS spun around. “OH NO—NOT THE RIVER!”
The troop turned. Half of them screamed. Half couldn’t stop laughing.
Riko was standing knee-deep in the water, glaring at the red bucket like a brave explorer facing his destiny.
No one believed it.
Shy little Riko. Sweet baby Riko. Mama’s clingy child.
Daring to cross the river alone?!
CUTIS lost his mind. “Get out of the water! You can’t swim yet!”
Riko didn’t budge. He puffed out his tiny chest and looked back at CUTIS with a stubborn expression.
Then came the moment that shocked everyone:
Riko pointed toward the bucket…
Then pointed at CUTIS.
CUTIS blinked. “Wait… are you CHALLENGING me for help right now?!”
Riko nodded dramatically.
Mama covered her mouth with both hands. “Riko… no one challenges CUTIS like this!”
The troop erupted in chatter.
“Is the baby serious?”
“No one thought he’d dare!”
“CUTIS will faint!”
CUTIS stared at Riko like he had just declared himself king of the forest.
“You want me to help you get that bucket?” CUTIS asked.
Riko nodded again.
Then… he pointed at Mama.
CUTIS gasped. “You’re calling in your MOM for backup?!”
The troop screamed with laughter.
Mama blushed in embarrassment. “Riko! You can’t just challenge me!”
But the baby had spoken. He wanted that treasure.
And he wanted CUTIS and his mother to help him.
CUTIS vs. Baby Determination

CUTIS marched into the water, scooped Riko up, and carried him back to safety like a stubborn papa.
“No river. No bucket. No danger,” CUTIS lectured. “You are TOO small!”
But Riko wiggled, squealed, and pointed again and again toward the treasure.
CUTIS shook his head. “No.”
Riko puffed out his cheeks.
CUTIS refused.
Riko stomped his feet.
CUTIS refused harder.
Finally, Riko sat on the ground, crossed his arms, looked straight at CUTIS, and let out the most dramatic baby cry the forest had ever heard.
“REEEEEEEE-EE-EEEEEEEEE!”
Birds flew away. Leaves shook. Even the frogs paused.
CUTIS froze. “Oh no… he’s doing the meltdown scream.”
Mama sighed and picked up Riko. “My poor baby… what do you want so badly?”
Riko didn’t hesitate. He pointed at the bucket again.
Mama sighed deeply. “CUTIS… maybe we should help him.”
CUTIS’s jaw dropped. “WHAT!? Mama, don’t encourage him!”
But Riko grabbed Mama’s cheeks and gave her a loving kiss.
CUTIS groaned. “Oh great… the kiss attack. We’re doomed.”
The Great Bucket Mission

In the end, CUTIS and Mama agreed to escort Riko—but Riko had to ride on CUTIS’s back the whole way.
“Hold on tight,” CUTIS muttered. “And don’t jump!”
Mama walked beside them, ready to catch Riko if he slipped.
The water was cold, deeper in the middle, and the current tugged at CUTIS’s legs. He grumbled loudly.
“I can’t believe I’m doing this,” he muttered.
Riko, however, felt like the king of the world. He squealed happily and pointed forward like a tiny pirate captain commanding a ship.
Mama chuckled. “He’s enjoying this too much.”
CUTIS growled. “No one will ever believe we let a baby boss us around.”
The Shocking Twist

When they finally reached the bucket, CUTIS lifted Riko down carefully.
“Okay. Look. Touch it. Smell it. Do whatever you want. Then we go back.”
But Riko didn’t climb into the bucket.
He didn’t eat the fruit.
He didn’t even take a mango.
Instead… he grabbed the bucket handle with both tiny hands and dragged it—struggling, squeaking, slipping—toward CUTIS.
CUTIS stared in confusion. “What are you doing?”
Riko grunted.
Then pointed…
Back toward the troop.
CUTIS blinked. “Wait… you want to bring the bucket for the OTHER babies?”
Mama gasped. “He wasn’t being greedy… he wanted to SHARE?”
The truth hit CUTIS like lightning.
Riko wasn’t trying to challenge anyone for treasure.
He wasn’t trying to run away or be naughty.
He saw something beautiful…
And wanted everyone else to enjoy it too.
CUTIS felt his heart melt. “Riko… you sweet little troublemaker.”
Mama smiled proudly. “My baby is growing.”
Together, CUTIS carried the bucket while Riko sat on his shoulder, proud and glowing with joy.
The Triumphant Return

When they arrived back at the troop, the babies cheered as CUTIS set the bucket down. Riko puffed his tiny chest again and tapped the bucket proudly, showing everyone what he had brought.
Every baby got fruit.
Every monkey laughed.
The troop celebrated the tiniest hero’s bravery.
CUTIS lifted Riko high into the air. “Look at this little guy! We thought he dared too much… but he just wanted to care for everyone.”
Mama hugged Riko tightly. “My brave baby.”
And Riko? He hugged CUTIS’s face so hard he almost knocked him over.
CUTIS laughed. “Okay, okay—don’t squeeze my nose off!”
No one in the forest would ever forget that day.
The day shy little Riko did something no one thought he’d dare…
The day he challenged his mother—challenged CUTIS—
All so he could share happiness with everyone.
