Lala, Xuka, and Chip Have Fun and Enjoy Watermelon to Cool Off in the Summer!

The sun was high in the sky, shining brightly over the peaceful countryside. Summer had arrived with its warm breezes, chirping birds, and the scent of flowers in the air. The days were longer, the grass greener, and the laughter of children echoed across the hills. But for three special friends—Lala the little monkey, Xuka the clever puppy, and Chip the playful parrot—summer meant one thing above all: time to have fun and eat watermelon!

One hot afternoon, the trio gathered under the big mango tree in the backyard. The sun was blazing, and the heat made them all feel a little drowsy. Xuka panted, flopping on the ground, tongue out. Chip fluttered his wings to cool himself off, and Lala fanned her face with a big banana leaf.

“It’s too hot today,” Lala groaned, stretching out on the grass.

“We need something to cool us down!” Xuka barked

“I have an idea!” chirped Chip, flying in a small circle above them. “What about… watermelon?”

Lala and Xuka sat up immediately, eyes wide with excitement.

“Yes! Watermelon is the best in summer,” Lala exclaimed.

“There’s a whole basket of them in the garden shed,” Xuka added, tail wagging happily.

The three friends rushed off in the direction of the shed. Sure enough, there sat a big wooden basket filled with round, striped watermelons. Each one looked juicier than the last. They decided to bring the biggest one to their favorite picnic spot—a shady patch under the mango tree, where a cool breeze always blew through.

Together, they rolled the watermelon across the grass. It wasn’t easy—Lala pushed, Xuka nudged with his nose, and Chip shouted directions from the sky.

“Left, now right! Careful, don’t squish the flowers!” he called.

Finally, they made it to the tree. Lala grabbed a small knife from her picnic bag and carefully cut the melon open. The bright red flesh inside glistened in the sun, full of black seeds and sweet juice. The smell was heavenly.

They each took a piece. Lala held hers with both hands, juice dripping down her fingers. Xuka munched his slice in two big bites, while Chip picked at his piece with his beak, humming happily.

“This is the best watermelon ever!” Xuka said with a full mouth.

“Sweet and cold—just what we needed,” Lala agreed, licking her fingers.

“It’s like a summer party in my mouth!” Chip chirped.

After their first round, they decided to have some fun with the watermelon. Lala carved fun shapes from the rind—stars, hearts, and even little animals. Xuka buried his face in a huge piece, pretending to be a watermelon monster. Chip tried to juggle small cubes in the air, but they kept falling on his head, making the others laugh.

Then came the watermelon seed spitting contest.

“Whoever spits the seed the farthest wins!” Lala announced.

They lined up and took turns. Chip went first, launching his seed with a sharp peck. It landed a short distance away. Xuka gave a powerful puff, and his seed landed even farther. But Lala took a deep breath and pffft!—her seed flew the farthest, landing near the garden hose.

“I win!” she shouted, dancing around. “Queen of the seed spitters!”

Xuka and Chip bowed in mock respect. “All hail Queen Lala!”

After the contest, they all lay down on the blanket, bellies full and spirits high. The sky was a brilliant blue above, and the mango tree offered just enough shade to keep them cool.

“I love summer,” Chip sighed.

“Me too,” Lala said dreamily. “Especially when we’re all together.”

“But I think we need something else to make this day even better,” Xuka said, perking up.

“Like what?” Lala asked.

“Watermelon juice!” he barked.

They all jumped up again. Lala fetched a blender from the kitchen. Chip brought ice cubes from the freezer, and Xuka carried the rest of the watermelon. They worked together—scooping out the red fruit, blending it until it turned into a smooth pink drink, and pouring it into tall glasses with slices of lime on the rim.

It was the most refreshing thing they had ever tasted.

“Cheers!” they said, clinking their glasses.

They drank slowly, enjoying each cool sip. It wasn’t just about the watermelon—it was about the fun of doing things together, of being silly and playful, of finding joy in the simple pleasures of a hot day.

When the sun began to set and the sky turned orange and purple, they cleaned up their picnic spot. Chip flew up to the tree to watch the first stars appear, while Lala and Xuka sat quietly, their hearts full of happiness.

Before heading home, Lala turned to her friends and said, “Let’s do this again tomorrow.”

“Every day if we can,” Xuka agreed.

“Watermelon forever!” Chip cheered.

And with that, the three friends ended their perfect summer day, already dreaming of tomorrow’s fun.
