If youโve ever spent time around monkeys, you know one thing for sure โ theyโre way too clever for their own good. They can figure out locks, steal snacks right from your pocket, and even play tricks on you when you least expect it. But every now and thenโฆ just once in a whileโฆ I get the rare chance to turn the tables and pull one over on them.
And thatโs exactly what happened today.
Let me tell you โ the day I totally bamboozled the little monkey was one of the funniest, cutest, and most unforgettable moments Iโve ever had with my cheeky furry buddy, CUTIS. ๐
๐ Morning Mischief
It all started early in the morning at the monkey park. The air was cool, the sun just rising, and the monkeys were already in full swing โ chattering, jumping, chasing each other, and, of course, begging for snacks.
CUTIS, my little sidekick, was front and center as always. Heโs got this adorable face that can melt anyoneโs heart, but behind those big innocent eyes is a tiny mastermind.
He knows where I keep the food. He knows how to distract me. He even knows that if he gives me his best โsad babyโ look, Iโll hand over treats without thinking twice.
But that day, I decided โ enough was enough. It was time for a little revenge prank. ๐
๐ The Plan
You see, CUTIS has a favorite snack: bananas. Not just any bananas โ he loves the soft, sweet ones that are perfectly ripe. If I hand him a banana, heโll hold it carefully like a treasure, peel it with both hands, and eat every bite while making happy little sounds.
So I thought, what if I give him a fake banana?
I had an idea. I took a small piece of yellow corn, shaped it like a banana, and wrapped it neatly in an old banana peel. From the outside, it looked perfect โ the kind of banana CUTIS would never suspect.
I laughed to myself. โAlright, little buddy,โ I whispered, โletโs see whoโs the clever one today.โ
๐ The Setup
When I walked over to the enclosure, CUTIS was already sitting on the branch waiting. He saw the banana in my hand and immediately started bouncing in excitement.
He reached out his little hand, eyes sparkling like heโd just won the lottery.
I held the โbananaโ just out of reach and said playfully, โYou have to be patient, CUTIS. No stealing this time!โ
He nodded โ which, for a monkey, meant a quick little head tilt that always makes me laugh. He was trying so hard to look polite. ๐
Finally, I handed it over.
CUTIS grabbed it like lightning. He sniffed it, peeled it carefully, and then took one big, confident biteโฆ
And the moment that corn touched his tongue โ his entire face changed.
๐ The Reaction

He froze. Eyes wide. Mouth slightly open. His jaw moved slowly like he was trying to figure out what went wrong.
Then he looked up at me โ and I swear, if looks could talk, his said, โWhat in the world did you just feed me?!โ
I burst out laughing. โGotcha!โ
CUTIS stared at the โbanana,โ took another suspicious sniff, and then made the funniest face Iโve ever seen โ like a kid tasting lemon for the first time. He dropped the fake banana, looked down at it, and then back at me.
It was as if he was trying to say, โYou betrayed me, human!โ ๐
But the best part? Instead of getting mad, CUTIS decided to get even.
๐พ Monkey Revenge
A few minutes later, I brought out a real banana to make peace. I peeled it halfway and offered it to him.
CUTIS took it slowly, still giving me that suspicious side-eye. He sniffed it once, twiceโฆ and then licked it, just to be sure.
When he realized it was real, he relaxed โ but I could tell something was brewing in that clever little mind of his.
He started eating peacefully, pretending everything was fine. But then, when I turned around to grab something, I felt something soft hit my back.
I looked down โ and there it was. The fake banana!
CUTIS had thrown it at me!
He jumped up and down, squeaking loudly, clapping his tiny hands as if to say, โNow weโre even!โ
I couldnโt stop laughing. He had waited for the perfect moment to strike back.
๐ฅ Monkey Antics Continue
After that hilarious start, the rest of the day was pure chaos โ in the best way.
CUTIS followed me everywhere, still suspicious of anything I handed him. Even if I gave him real fruit, heโd hold it up to the light like a little scientist, inspecting it before taking a bite.
At one point, Baby Monkey came running over to see what was going on. CUTIS handed him the fake banana, as if saying, โHere, you try it.โ
Baby Monkey bit into itโฆ and made the same shocked face CUTIS had earlier!
This time, it was CUTISโs turn to laugh. He bounced around, making happy chirping sounds and showing all his teeth in what could only be described as a monkey grin.
Watching the two of them together was comedy gold. One tiny prank had turned into an entire monkey soap opera! ๐
๐ Snack Time Truce

Later in the afternoon, I decided to make up for my little trick. I brought out a big tray of real fruit โ watermelon, bananas, mangoes, and a few peanuts.
The moment they saw the bright colors, both monkeys ran up, squealing with excitement.
CUTIS looked at me again with those eyes that said, โNo more tricks, okay?โ
I raised my hands and said, โI promise. No more fake bananas.โ
He took a piece of watermelon and started munching happily, the red juice dripping down his chin. Baby Monkey joined in, and soon both were sitting side by side, eating quietly. The earlier prank seemed forgotten โ or at least forgiven.
But CUTIS, being who he is, couldnโt resist a tiny comeback.
When I leaned in close to take a photo, he gently pressed a piece of sticky watermelon against my cheek and squeaked in delight.
Touchรฉ, little monkey. Touchรฉ. ๐
๐ The Dayโs End
As the sun began to set, the park glowed in warm orange light. CUTIS climbed onto my shoulder, still holding the remains of his fruit. He was calm now, relaxed, probably full and sleepy.
He looked at me once more, blinked slowly, and gave a soft little coo โ his way of saying, โWeโre good.โ
I scratched his head gently. โYouโre too smart for me, buddy,โ I said. โBut today, I got you.โ
He yawned, curled up beside Baby Monkey, and drifted off to sleep, his tiny chest rising and falling peacefully.
I couldnโt help but smile. It had been a day full of laughter, mischief, and just pure joy.
โค๏ธ The Lesson
Being around monkeys reminds me of something important โ playfulness keeps life beautiful.
Theyโre curious, clever, emotional, and full of personality. And when we share moments like this โ silly little pranks and gentle laughter โ it feels like weโre speaking the same universal language: joy.
CUTIS may have been bamboozled that day, but really, he gave me the best gift โ a day full of smiles and memories that Iโll never forget.
Because sometimes, all it takes to make the world feel brighterโฆ is a little monkey mischief and a whole lot of laughter. ๐๐โค๏ธ
The End.
