It was one of those warm, lazy afternoons when even the air seemed to move slowly. The sun hung high above the sanctuary, its rays filtering through the trees and casting sleepy golden patches on the ground. Most of the monkeys were resting in the shade, grooming each other or quietly munching on fruits. But not Cutis.
Cutis, the little brown monkey with the mischievous eyes and boundless curiosity, was lying flat on his belly on a wooden platform. His arms and legs dangled loosely over the edge, his face pressed against the wood, eyes half-closed. He looked like the very picture of exhaustion.
He had been playing all morning—climbing, jumping, chasing Cubis, and stealing bananas from the food baskets. But now, as the day grew hotter and his energy drained, he felt that deep, familiar feeling creeping in: hunger.
His stomach growled softly, and one ear twitched. He blinked lazily, turned his head to the side, and saw a bunch of ripe bananas just a few meters away on the ground.
They glowed like golden treasure under the sunlight.
Cutis licked his lips. He could almost taste them already—the sweetness, the softness, the delicious satisfaction.
But there was one small problem.
He was way too tired to move. 😴
💤 The Great Internal Struggle
He groaned softly, stretching one arm out dramatically in the direction of the bananas. His fingers reached, grasped at the air… and fell short by about ten feet.
He let out a long, exaggerated sigh and flopped his arm back down.
“Why are they so far?” he thought miserably, his tail twitching in frustration.
He rolled over onto his back, staring up at the canopy of leaves. Birds chirped. A breeze passed through, carrying the sweet scent of fruit. Somewhere nearby, Cubis was happily munching on an orange.
Cutis turned his head slightly and saw him. Cubis noticed and waved, a piece of orange dangling from his mouth.
Cutis’s stomach growled louder this time.
He whined softly, like a sleepy baby, and then groaned again.
He wanted food. He needed food. But the idea of getting up felt impossible.
So, like any clever monkey, he started thinking: Maybe the food can come to me instead.
🧠 Attempt #1 – The Stretch Strategy

Cutis rolled onto his belly again and began inching forward, using only his arms. It looked like he was swimming on land, pulling himself forward one slow, painful inch at a time.
He stretched, reached, and… stopped halfway.
His arm dropped. He was panting like he’d just run a marathon.
He turned his head toward the bananas again. They looked even farther away now.
He let out a dramatic whimper and collapsed flat against the wood.
From a distance, Uncle Tu—the caretaker—watched with amusement. “Cutis, you lazy little boy,” he chuckled. “Too tired to eat? That’s new!”
Cutis looked at him briefly, then turned away with a huff, as if to say, You wouldn’t understand, human.
😂 Attempt #2 – The Roll Plan
After a few minutes of rest, Cutis came up with another brilliant idea.
He slowly rolled over onto his side. Then, with a little push, he rolled again. And again.
He figured if he kept rolling, he’d eventually reach the bananas without having to stand up.
The first few rolls went well. He moved a bit closer each time, though he also picked up a few leaves and dirt on his fur. But halfway there, he stopped.
The effort had tired him out again.
He lay still, eyes half-open, drool just starting to form at the corner of his mouth.
His stomach growled again.
“Fine,” he muttered softly in monkey chatter, “I’ll just… eat later.”
But of course, he didn’t mean that. He loved food too much.
🍌 The Banana Drama
That’s when fate stepped in.
A gentle breeze rustled the trees, and one of the bananas from the bunch rolled slightly downhill—right toward him.
Cutis’s eyes widened instantly. He lifted his head, watching in slow motion as the banana stopped just a few inches from his outstretched hand.
He blinked once. Then again.
It felt like the universe had just rewarded his laziness.
He grabbed the banana quickly, pulled it close, and hugged it like a precious gem. His tail swished with joy.
“See?” he thought proudly. “No need to move. The food comes to me!”
He peeled it clumsily with one hand, took a big bite, and sighed in pure satisfaction.
The sweetness filled his mouth, and his tired body instantly relaxed. He chewed slowly, his eyelids drooping.
After the second bite, he lay back down again, still holding the banana.
He was eating and napping at the same time—a true master of lazy multitasking.
🐵 The Curious Crowd

A few minutes later, Cubis came wandering over, holding his orange. He tilted his head at Cutis and squeaked questioningly, as if to say, “Why are you lying down?”
Cutis gave him a sleepy glance and raised his banana proudly, showing off his reward.
Cubis sniffed it and then reached to take a bite.
Cutis hissed softly, hugging the banana tighter. He wasn’t sharing this one.
Cubis tried again, poking his friend’s cheek. Cutis just rolled over, turning his back and continuing to chew slowly.
The other monkeys began to gather too, curious about what was going on. Some sat around him, watching as Cutis lay there like a king surrounded by his audience, eating lazily and refusing to get up.
Even Uncle Tu had to laugh. “Cutis,” he said, “you might be the laziest little monkey in the world!”
😴 Snack-Induced Sleep
When he finally finished his banana, Cutis looked completely content. His belly was full, his limbs were heavy, and his eyelids were drooping fast.
He licked his fingers slowly, yawned wide, and snuggled into the wooden platform again.
Within moments, he was fast asleep—mouth slightly open, one arm still resting on the banana peel beside him.
The other monkeys soon lost interest and went back to playing, but Uncle Tu just stood there smiling.
He shook his head gently. “When you’re hungry but too tired to move, the world somehow helps you out,” he said softly.
He reached down, gently brushed the dirt off Cutis’s fur, and covered him with a small towel to keep the flies away.
🌅 Evening Laughter

As the sun began to set, Cutis finally woke up again. He blinked groggily, stretched his arms, and looked around. The other monkeys were eating dinner—fresh fruits, nuts, and boiled sweet potatoes.
His eyes widened instantly.
Hunger struck again.
He jumped up, ran toward the food, and grabbed a handful of fruit like he hadn’t eaten in days.
Uncle Tu laughed from across the yard. “Now you have energy, huh?”
Cutis stuffed a piece of papaya into his mouth, cheeks puffed up like a chipmunk, and looked completely satisfied.
It didn’t matter that just hours ago he was too tired to lift a finger. Now he was back to being the energetic little troublemaker everyone knew and loved.
❤️ The Lesson of Lazy Cutis
That night, as the monkeys settled down to sleep, Uncle Tu thought about how funny the day had been.
Cutis had shown everyone something simple yet true: even when you’re tired, you don’t have to give up. Sometimes, the world gives you what you need when you least expect it.
Maybe it was luck. Maybe it was timing. Or maybe it was just a banana rolling down the hill at the perfect moment.
But one thing was sure — Cutis had entertained everyone once again with his hilarious mix of laziness and determination.
As Uncle Tu turned off the lights, he looked back at the sleeping monkey curled up in his blanket, smiling softly in his dreams.
“Goodnight, Cutis,” he whispered. “Dream of bananas that roll right to you.” 🍌😴🐒
And in the quiet of the night, Cutis’s little hand twitched, as if reaching for another snack — proving that even in his dreams, when he’s hungry but too tired to move, this funny monkey never gives up.
