The golden morning sunlight danced through the canopy, painting soft beams across the forest floor. The air was warm, sweet with the scent of ripe fruit, and the chatter of monkeys echoed through the tall trees. CUTIS, the clever and curious monkey, was up early as always, his eyes glimmering with mischief. Beside him, his little partner-in-fun â the adorable baby monkey Momo â followed closely, eyes wide and tail swinging like a playful ribbon.
Their mother, Lila, was busy grooming herself nearby, occasionally glancing up to make sure her two little troublemakers werenât getting into mischief. But CUTIS had something different on his mind that day â something special.
Earlier that morning, while exploring near the human villageâs edge, he had discovered something truly amazing: a giant melon. It was round, shiny, and smelled deliciously sweet even from a distance. CUTIS had never seen such a big fruit before â it was bigger than Momoâs whole body! Excited, he had dragged Momo over to see it.
âLook, Momo!â CUTIS chattered softly, tapping the melonâs hard shell. Thump-thump-thump. It made a deep sound, and Momoâs eyes went round with wonder. The baby monkey touched it gently, then climbed on top of it, giggling as he bounced. CUTIS laughed too, but his clever brain was already spinning with ideas.
He wanted to surprise their mom with something special. Lila had been tired lately, taking care of them all while also watching over their new baby sibling. CUTIS decided that he and Momo would prepare a special treat from the melon â something sweet to make their mom happy.
But first, they had to figure out how to open it.

Momo tried scratching it with his tiny nails, but the melon barely budged. CUTIS tried biting it, but it was too hard. Then he had an idea. He remembered how humans used sticks and rocks to break things open. So he climbed up the nearest tree, searched around, and came back with a small, pointed stone.
Momo watched curiously as CUTIS placed the stone near the melon and started tapping it carefully. âTuk! Tuk! Tuk!â he hit it again and again until crack! â a tiny line appeared on the surface. Both monkeys jumped back, surprised.
âIt worked!â CUTISâs eyes gleamed with excitement.
They worked together â CUTIS striking, Momo pulling â until finally the melon split open, releasing a wave of sweet, juicy scent that made both monkeysâ mouths water. The bright orange flesh glistened under the sunlight.
Momo squealed in delight and immediately started licking the juice that dripped down the side. CUTIS laughed but stopped him. âWait, wait!â his gestures seemed to say. He wanted to make it special for Mom. He didnât want to just eat it â he wanted to prepare something unique.
CUTIS gathered a few large leaves, folded them carefully, and started scooping the juicy melon flesh into them. He mashed it a little with his hands, turning it into a kind of natural fruit pudding. Momo followed along, imitating his every move. Soon, they had a small pile of sweet, sticky melon paste wrapped neatly in leaves â their secret forest-style dessert.
But CUTIS wasnât done yet. He took a few wildflowers from nearby, bright purple and white ones, and sprinkled their petals over the top for decoration. The result looked beautiful â a jungle delicacy made with love and monkey creativity.

Momo was so proud that he started jumping around, nearly knocking over their creation. CUTIS laughed but quickly hushed him. âShhh,â he motioned. âItâs a secret!â
They decided to hide their âmelon masterpieceâ behind a big tree near their sleeping spot. They would wait until evening to surprise their mom.
But when they returned later that day, they found their mom already near the area. She was looking around with a puzzled expression, sniffing the air.
âWhatâs that smell?â she seemed to be thinking. The sweet aroma of the melon treat was too strong to ignore.
CUTIS and Momo froze behind the tree, watching nervously as Lila got closer and closer to their secret stash.
Then â she found it.
She tilted her head, staring at the carefully arranged leaves, the mashed melon, and the colorful flower petals. Her brow furrowed as she sniffed and touched it cautiously.

âWho did this?â her look seemed to ask.
CUTIS bit his lip, unsure whether to come out or not. Momo, however, couldnât help but giggle softly. That tiny sound gave them away. Lila turned immediately, and there they were â two guilty faces peeking from behind the tree.
CUTIS stepped forward bravely, holding a piece of melon in his hand. He chirped happily and offered it to her. Momo followed, carrying a small flower petal in his mouth as if to say, âWe helped too!â
For a moment, Lila looked utterly confused. Then, as CUTIS gently pushed the sweet fruit toward her lips, she realized what had happened. Her expression softened into one of love and amusement. She took a bite, and the sweetness filled her mouth. CUTIS watched her anxiously, waiting for her reaction.
Lila smiled. She made a soft, happy sound â a monkey motherâs way of saying âthank you.â CUTIS and Momo jumped with joy, clapping and hugging each other. Their surprise had worked!
After that, the three of them sat together under the tree, sharing the rest of the melon. Momo smeared juice all over his face, licking his fingers with delight. CUTIS made sure his mom had the biggest pieces, while he and Momo took turns eating the rest. It was messy, sticky, and perfect.
Later, as the sun began to set, Lila looked at CUTIS with gentle eyes. She seemed proud â not just because they found the fruit, but because they had thought of her. CUTIS leaned against her, feeling warm and content. Momo, tired from all the excitement, curled up beside them and fell asleep with a full belly and a happy smile.

But the story didnât end there.
The next morning, the other monkeys noticed the leftover melon pieces and the colorful leaves around the area. They gathered around, curious and impressed. âWho made this?â they chattered among themselves. CUTIS just smiled mysteriously and didnât say a word. Momo giggled, covering his mouth like he was guarding a big secret.
From that day on, CUTIS and Momo were known as the âmelon brothers.â Whenever anyone found fruit, theyâd call CUTIS to help open it because everyone believed he had the âmagic touch.â CUTIS didnât mind â he liked sharing his clever tricks, especially when it brought smiles to others.
As for Lila, she never forgot that day. It wasnât just about the melon or the sweetness of the fruit â it was about the love behind it. Her sons had worked together, thought of her, and turned an ordinary fruit into something truly special.
That night, as they lay together under the moonlight, Lila groomed CUTISâs fur softly, whispering in her gentle monkey language, âYouâre growing up, my clever boy.â
CUTIS smiled, eyes half-closed, feeling proud and happy. Momo mumbled in his sleep, probably dreaming about another giant melon.
The forest was calm again, and the stars shimmered above them. Somewhere in the distance, the soft thump of falling fruit echoed â another adventure waiting to begin.
But for now, CUTIS, Momo, and their loving mom rested peacefully, their hearts full and their bellies even fuller.
And from that day forward, every time Lila smelled the sweet scent of melon, she couldnât help but smile â remembering the day her two mischievous little ones secretly did something special that filled her heart with joy and just a little bit of confusion. đŻđđđ
