In a small, peaceful village surrounded by green rice fields and tall coconut trees, there lived a clever baby monkey named Bubu. He was no ordinary monkeyāBubu was kind, playful, and deeply attached to his human friend, a farmer named CUTIS. From sunrise to sunset, the two were inseparable. Whether it was planting vegetables or taking afternoon naps in a hammock, Bubu was always by CUTISās side.
But one day, everything changed.

It started like any other morning. Bubu climbed onto CUTISās shoulder, chattering happily as the farmer prepared for the market. CUTIS smiled, ruffled Bubuās fur, and gave him a small banana. Bubu didnāt know it would be their last sweet moment together.

When they arrived at the village market, CUTIS seemed nervous. He looked around a lot and whispered to some strangers. Bubu tilted his head curiously, sensing something was wrong. Then, CUTIS did something he had never done beforeāhe handed Bubu to a stranger holding a bag of money. Bubu squealed, wrapping his arms around CUTISās leg, refusing to let go.

But CUTIS gently pried him off and turned away.
āBe good, Bubu,ā CUTIS said quietly, without meeting his eyes.
And just like that, he was gone.
Bubu screamed and cried, his tiny heart shattering. He called out over and over, āEee-ee! Eee-ee!āāthe way he always did when he wanted CUTISās attention. But the sound of the market drowned his cries. The stranger who now held him didnāt understand his pain. He tried to calm Bubu with food and toys, but nothing could replace the love Bubu had for CUTIS.

Days passed, but Bubu refused to eat. He sat in a corner, his eyes dull, his once-bouncy body still and silent. He kept staring at the road, hopingāprayingāthat CUTIS would come back for him.Back in the village, rumors spread like wildfire. Some said CUTIS was in deep debt and had no choice but to sell the monkey. Others said he planned to leave the village and start a new life far away. Whatever the reason, everyone agreed: Bubu didnāt deserve this heartbreak.

Children who once played with Bubu brought him fruit and sang to him softly, but the spark in his eyes was gone. He no longer climbed trees or danced in circles. He was just a babyātoo young to understand why love was traded for money.
One afternoon, a little girl named Lida sat next to Bubu and whispered, āDonāt worry. One day, someone will love you like CUTIS never could.ā
And maybe she was right.

Because sometimes, it takes losing something to discover who truly cares.
Bubuās story broke the hearts of many, and one kind soulāan old woman who raised orphaned animalsāheard of his sadness and came to see him. With gentle hands and a warm heart, she reached out to him. Bubu hesitated⦠then slowly climbed into her lap.
Perhaps healing had finally begun. But even as he nestled into her arms, a small tear rolled down his cheek.
Because even baby monkeys donāt forget who left them behind. š
