The afternoon sun was bright, and the farmyard was alive with noises—clucking chickens, a few goats chewing lazily on grass, and the occasional bark from Rojo, the big farm dog. But at the very center of all this commotion stood CUTIS, the clever farmer, holding something that instantly drew the attention of every creature within sight.
It was a giant piece of freshly cooked meat.
The smell of roasted goodness drifted through the air like an invisible rope, pulling every curious nose toward him. Even the baby monkey, who usually only cared about fruits, was standing tall on his little legs, eyes locked on the meat as if it were the most precious treasure in the world. CUTIS laughed, swinging the meat a little higher so the monkey couldn’t touch it.
“Not so fast, little one,” CUTIS said with a grin. “This isn’t just for you.”
But the monkey didn’t care. He squeaked, grabbed CUTIS’s leg, and pointed insistently at the meat as though he had discovered a hidden treasure map. CUTIS chuckled again, shaking his head.
Still, CUTIS had a mischievous idea. He crouched down, placed the meat on a wooden plate, and said, “Alright, buddy. If you want it, you’ll have to help me guard it. Because once the others smell this, they’ll come running.”
The monkey puffed his tiny chest, nodded furiously, and took a dramatic stance in front of the meat. It was almost comical—this little baby monkey, barely taller than a loaf of bread, standing like a knight protecting his king. CUTIS sat beside him, both of them forming an unlikely but determined team.
The first challenger: The chickens
It didn’t take long. A curious hen wandered over, clucking and bobbing her head toward the plate. She leaned in, her beak twitching as she prepared to steal a peck.
“Oi!” CUTIS waved his hand, but before he could chase her off, the monkey leapt forward. With a high-pitched squeal, he flapped his arms wildly like a windmill. The hen squawked, flapped her wings in fright, and ran back to the coop.
CUTIS burst out laughing. “Ha! Good job, little knight. You really scared her off.”
The monkey looked smug, puffing up again and thumping his tiny chest like a miniature king of the jungle.

The second challenger: Rojo the dog
But peace didn’t last long. Rojo, the big farm dog with a nose sharper than any thief’s eyes, padded over with his tail wagging. He wasn’t mean—he just loved meat, maybe even more than CUTIS did.
“Uh-oh,” CUTIS muttered. “This might be harder.”
Rojo lowered his head, eyes locked on the plate. His tongue lolled out, dripping with drool. Just as he stepped closer, the monkey shrieked again, but this time Rojo didn’t back off. Instead, he tilted his head as if saying, Nice try, little guy, but that meat is mine.
CUTIS grabbed a stick from the ground and held it out like a sword. “Back, Rojo! This is ours!”
The dog barked, the monkey screeched, and CUTIS waved the stick dramatically. The scene looked so ridiculous that if any neighbor had walked by, they’d think CUTIS had gone mad, teaming up with a baby monkey to fight off a hungry dog.
Finally, Rojo huffed, circled once, and laid down a few feet away, pretending to give up but keeping one eye on the meat.
“Victory!” CUTIS cheered, raising the stick high. The monkey copied him, holding up a leaf as if it were his own sword.
The sneaky goats
Not long after, the goats arrived. Unlike the chickens or Rojo, they didn’t charge in directly. They played it smart—walking slowly, pretending they weren’t interested. One goat chewed grass, another looked up at the sky, but their eyes kept drifting back to the plate.
CUTIS narrowed his eyes. “I know your tricks.”
The monkey, sensing the danger, climbed onto the plate itself, sitting cross-legged on top of the meat like a fierce little guard. Every time a goat stepped closer, he let out a sharp “Eeeek!” and waved his arms. The goats hesitated, stomped their hooves, and eventually backed off, clearly annoyed but unwilling to deal with the monkey’s dramatic tantrums.
CUTIS laughed so hard his stomach hurt. “You’re a natural bodyguard! Maybe I should hire you.”

CUTIS’s idea
After all that chaos, CUTIS leaned against a fence, looking at his little partner. “You know what? We’ve been protecting this meat so much… maybe we should actually eat it together before anyone else tries again.”
The monkey’s ears perked up. He nodded eagerly, clapping his tiny hands.
CUTIS carefully tore off a small, juicy piece of the meat and handed it to him. The monkey sniffed it, then took a cautious bite. His eyes widened, and then he squealed in delight, chewing as fast as he could. CUTIS ate a bigger piece himself, savoring the smoky, tender flavor.
“See? Worth protecting, right?” CUTIS said with a wink.
The monkey licked his fingers, then immediately spread his arms wide as if to shield the rest of the meat again. CUTIS chuckled. “Still on guard duty, huh?”
The surprise ending
Just as they were enjoying their meal, CUTIS heard rustling behind him. He turned—and there was his neighbor, old Farmer Thom, holding a camera.
“I’ve been watching you two for the last half hour,” Thom said, chuckling so hard he could barely speak. “CUTIS, you looked like a general leading an army, and that monkey—he’s the funniest soldier I’ve ever seen!”
CUTIS’s face turned red, but he laughed too. “Well, we did protect the meat, didn’t we?”
Farmer Thom grinned. “Don’t worry. I got it all on video. This is going to make the whole village laugh for weeks.”
CUTIS groaned playfully, burying his face in his hands. The monkey, however, didn’t seem embarrassed at all. He jumped down, pointed proudly at the meat, and squealed as if announcing their glorious victory.
Later that evening, the video spread around the village. Kids laughed, adults chuckled, and everyone agreed that CUTIS and his little monkey partner made the funniest pair they’d ever seen.
As for CUTIS and the monkey? They finished their meat in peace, sitting side by side under the sunset, proud defenders of their hard-won treasure.
And from that day on, whenever CUTIS cooked meat, the baby monkey was always at his side, ready to guard it like a tiny knight protecting a kingdom.
