It was the moment we had dreamed about, the one everyone kept asking us about ever since we hinted that Lulu might be getting a sibling. After weeks of anticipation, planning, and more than a few nerves, it finally happened: Lulu met Tuktuk.
To be honest, we were terrified.
Lulu had always been the queen of the house. She had her favorite napping spots, her daily routines, and the full, undivided attention of everyone around her. She didn’t just live with us—she ruled us. So the idea of introducing another furry personality into her perfectly curated world made our hearts race. Would she feel betrayed? Jealous? Would Tuktuk, still so small and unfamiliar with our home, be overwhelmed by her larger-than-life presence?
We prepared everything to make the meeting go as smoothly as possible. Tuktuk had his own little area set up, cozy and quiet, so he wouldn’t feel too out of place. Their bond has only deepened with time. They groom each other, nap together in perfect little fluffy piles, and communicate in a way we’ll never fully understand—but it’s clear as day to them. Watching them is like witnessing a silent language of affection and trust.
Looking back now, we can’t believe we ever worried. Getting a brother for Lulu was the best decision we ever made. Tuktuk didn’t just become part of our family—he completed it. And Lulu? She blossomed in ways we never expected. More playful, more affectionate, more full of life. It’s as if having him around unlocked something in her heart.
