The morning sun peeked through the banana trees, and the forest slowly came alive with cheerful sounds of chirping birds and rustling leaves. Deep inside the jungle, CUTIS—the funniest monkey of them all—was up to something secret. He had been whispering to himself all morning, darting around with a mischievous grin and a sparkle in his eyes.
“Today,” he said proudly, “I’m going to pull off the biggest surprise ever!”
Baby Monkey, his curious little friend, peeked from behind a tree. “A surprise? What kind of surprise, CUTIS?”
CUTIS winked. “You’ll see. But no peeking! It’s a BIG surprise!”
Baby Monkey’s tail twitched with curiosity. “Aw, come on, just a little hint?”
CUTIS laughed. “Nope! If I tell you, it won’t be funny anymore!”
And with that, he scurried away into the trees, leaving Baby Monkey wondering what in the world his funny friend was planning.
The Preparation
CUTIS had been thinking about this for days. Everyone in the monkey family had been so busy lately—gathering food, cleaning nests, and helping Mama Monkey with chores. He wanted to make them laugh, to give them a day full of joy and silliness.
He started by gathering supplies—bright leaves, shiny pebbles, a few flowers, and some leftover ribbons from the last birthday party. He even snuck into Uncle Tu’s hut to “borrow” a few things—like a tiny whistle and an old hat with feathers sticking out of it.
CUTIS giggled to himself as he worked. “This is going to be perfect. They’ll never see it coming!”
But while CUTIS was preparing his surprise, Baby Monkey couldn’t help but follow him from a distance. He climbed trees quietly, hiding behind bushes, trying to catch a glimpse of what CUTIS was up to.
At one point, Baby Monkey saw CUTIS hanging upside down from a branch, trying to tie ribbons around it. Suddenly, the branch snapped, and CUTIS fell—landing in a pile of soft leaves.
“Oops! Hehehe!” CUTIS laughed, brushing himself off. “A little fall can’t stop me!”
Baby Monkey covered his mouth to stop himself from laughing out loud. CUTIS looked so silly with leaves stuck in his fur, but his determination made Baby Monkey admire him even more.
The Suspicious Afternoon
By the afternoon, everyone in the forest noticed that CUTIS was acting strange. He kept running from one place to another, carrying baskets and talking to himself. Mama Monkey asked, “CUTIS, what are you doing, dear?”
He smiled innocently. “Oh, nothing, Mama! Just… stretching my tail muscles!”
Mama Monkey laughed. “Stretching your tail muscles, huh? That sounds suspicious!”
Uncle Tu raised an eyebrow. “Last time you said that, my bananas disappeared.”
CUTIS quickly shook his head. “No bananas this time, I promise!”
But secretly, he had borrowed a few bananas for his plan. They were part of his surprise masterpiece.
The Grand Setup

When the sun began to dip low in the sky, CUTIS decided it was time. He climbed up the tallest tree in the clearing and waved his arms. “Everyone! Everyone! Come quick! I have something to show you!”
All the monkeys gathered curiously below. Mama Monkey came carrying Baby Monkey in her arms, while Uncle Tu arrived with his favorite walking stick. Even the parrots and squirrels nearby decided to see what all the fuss was about.
CUTIS cleared his throat dramatically. “Ladies, gentlemen, and monkey friends, welcome to… The Big Surprise Show!”
The crowd gasped. “A show?”
“Yes!” CUTIS announced proudly. “You’ve all worked so hard lately. So I, the funniest monkey in the forest, have prepared something to make everyone laugh and smile!”
The monkeys cheered. “Yay! CUTIS! CUTIS!”
CUTIS bowed deeply, then jumped behind a curtain made of leaves. “Let the show begin!”
The Funny Monkey Show
The curtain rustled—and out came CUTIS wearing a hat far too big for his head, with feathers sticking out in every direction. He was holding a stick like a magic wand. “Ta-da! I am the Great Monkey Magician!” he shouted.
He waved his stick dramatically. “For my first trick, I will make this banana disappear!”
He placed a banana on a leaf, covered it with a big leaf, and said, “Abracadabra, monkey magic, go!”
He lifted the leaf—only to reveal… nothing! The banana was gone!
Everyone gasped.
CUTIS grinned, proud of himself—until a loud burp came from behind him. The crowd laughed as Baby Monkey was revealed, cheeks puffed and hands behind his back. He had eaten the banana while CUTIS wasn’t looking!
CUTIS pointed dramatically. “Ladies and gentlemen, my assistant just performed the real magic trick!”
The forest roared with laughter. Even Uncle Tu had tears in his eyes from laughing so hard.
Then CUTIS moved to his next act—“The Dancing Monkey Parade!” He pulled on a vine, and a row of tiny fruit baskets came rolling down, each one decorated with flowers and colorful ribbons. CUTIS began to dance around them, spinning and flipping in midair. Baby Monkey joined in, trying to imitate his moves, but slipped and landed face-first into a pile of mangoes.
Splat!
The crowd howled with laughter again. CUTIS rushed over to help Baby Monkey up, both of them now covered in mango juice. They looked at each other, then burst into giggles.
The Real Surprise

Just when everyone thought the show was over, CUTIS shouted, “And now—the biggest surprise of all!”
He climbed up a tall tree and pulled a long vine hanging from a branch. Suddenly, something began to fall from above—bright flower petals, shiny ribbons, and little fruits tied with leaves. It looked like a colorful rain shower, filling the clearing with joy and beauty.
Everyone gasped in awe. Even the parrots fluttered down to play in the falling petals.
Mama Monkey smiled warmly. “Oh CUTIS, this is beautiful!”
CUTIS beamed proudly. “You all deserve it! A funny surprise for the funniest family!”
Just as everyone was clapping, a strange sound came from above—creak, crack, snap!
CUTIS looked up just in time to see the giant basket he’d tied in the tree wobble dangerously. Before he could move, the whole thing tipped over—dumping a mountain of fruits, leaves, and petals right on top of him!
The monkeys gasped. For a moment, all they saw was a giant pile of leaves. Then, slowly, a banana-covered hand popped out. CUTIS stood up, completely covered in fruit, a mango stuck on his head like a crown.
He blinked, then spread his arms wide. “Ta-da! Surprise number two!”
The entire forest exploded with laughter. Even Mama Monkey couldn’t stop giggling. Uncle Tu was laughing so hard he almost dropped his walking stick. Baby Monkey rolled on the ground, holding his belly.
CUTIS laughed too, shaking the mango from his head. “Guess the surprise worked too well!”
The End of the Day
As the laughter faded into happy chatter, the monkeys gathered around CUTIS, hugging him and thanking him for the wonderful surprise. Baby Monkey handed him a small flower crown and said, “You’re not just the funniest monkey, CUTIS—you’re the kindest one too.”
CUTIS smiled, touched by the words. “I just wanted everyone to be happy. That’s the best kind of surprise.”
As night fell, they all sat together under the glowing moon, sharing fruits and stories. The air was filled with warmth, laughter, and love.
CUTIS leaned back against the tree, tail swaying lazily. “Hmm,” he murmured. “Maybe next time, I’ll plan something even bigger…”
Baby Monkey gasped. “Bigger than this?”
CUTIS winked. “Oh yes. Funny Monkey never runs out of surprises.”
And with that, the forest echoed once more with giggles and joy—proof that sometimes, the best surprises come from the heart.
