Vlogmas | Showing Elijah Our Weird Tradition! 🎄🎥

Hey friends! Welcome back to another day of Vlogmas, where we’re counting down to Christmas one video at a time—and today’s vlog is extra special. Why? Because we’re introducing Elijah, our newest family member by marriage (shoutout to my sister!), to one of our strangest, most hilarious, most iconic holiday traditions. Let’s just say… he had no idea what he was getting into. 😅

🎅 Morning Kickoff: Christmas Pajamas & Chaos

We started the day, as always, in matching pajamas. This year’s set? Red plaid with tiny reindeers doing yoga (yes, really). Elijah showed up in regular sweats and looked VERY confused.

“What’s the dress code?” he asked.

Max just handed him a pair of pajama pants and said, “You’ll want to wear these.”

After breakfast (candy cane pancakes + hot cocoa with peppermint whipped cream), it was time to explain The Tradition.

🎁 The Weird Tradition: “Santa’s Sock Swap”

Okay, here’s the rundown. Every year, our family does this thing called Santa’s Sock Swap. Everyone brings a wrapped pair of socks—funny, weird, themed, or even hand-decorated—and we draw names to swap. Then, we do a fashion show where you model the socks with a dramatic walk and holiday music.

Yes, it’s ridiculous. Yes, we film it. And yes, it always ends in laughter.

Elijah blinked. “Wait… we walk? Like, catwalk?”

“Oh yeah,” I said. “And there’s a glitter runway.”

🎄 Prepping the Swap

We all gathered around the tree and put our wrapped sock gifts in the Santa sack. Elijah dropped his in nervously—he’d gotten llama socks that said “Fa-La-La-La-Llama.”

While the names were being shuffled, we queued up the holiday playlist: Mariah Carey, Pentatonix, and some random remix of “Rudolph” with trap beats.

Mom dimmed the lights. The glitter runway (made from silver tinsel and battery lights) sparkled. Elijah looked equal parts nervous and amused.

🎤 The Sock Swap Showdown Begins!

One by one, we each unwrapped our socks and strutted down the glitter runway. Max got glow-in-the-dark elf feet. I scored fuzzy gingerbread men with puffy hats. Elijah opened his to reveal… rainbow unicorn socks with bells.

The room went silent.

“Dare you,” I whispered.

He grinned. “You’re ON.”

And with that, Elijah took the runway. He SLAYED it. He twirled. He threw imaginary glitter. He did a moonwalk in unicorn bells.

We all LOST it.

🍿 Post-Show Snack Time

After the fashion show, we all curled up in the living room with popcorn and our mismatched socks. Elijah couldn’t stop laughing.

“Okay,” he said, “this is absolutely the weirdest Christmas thing I’ve ever done… and I love it.”

We explained how the tradition started years ago when our grandmother gave out mismatched socks by accident, and we made a whole night of it. Now it’s our thing.

🎥 Behind-the-Scenes Vlog Moments

Some highlights I caught on camera:

  • Elijah practicing his walk in the hallway whispering “Blue Steel” 😂
  • Max dropping his sock gift and pretending it was “a surprise attack”
  • Mom accidentally putting her socks on her hands to be “avant-garde”
  • Dad yelling “WERK IT” like he’s on a judging panel

Editing this vlog is going to be SO FUN. I already have dramatic zoom-ins and slow-mo runway struts lined up.

🧁 Cozy Ending to a Weirdly Wonderful Day

After all the sock chaos, we ended the night baking gingerbread cookies and watching “Elf.” Elijah said it felt like he was in a Hallmark movie but with more glitter and less romance.

Before we wrapped the vlog, I did a quick sit-down with him to get his thoughts:

Me: “So… honest thoughts?” Elijah: “Y’all are weird. But the good kind of weird. Like… I wanna do this every year.”

Mission accomplished. 😄
