The morning sun rose over the small village, painting the sky with hues of gold and soft pink. Birds chirped in the trees, announcing the start of a new day. Inside the cozy little house on the edge of the village, Lala was already wide awake. The playful girl loved mornings, especially when she knew she was going to spend the whole day with her mom.
Today was not just any day—it was a special day. Mom had promised Lala that they would visit Grandma’s farm to harvest fresh vegetables. They were going to cook a hearty meal, not just for the family but also for the kittens that had recently made their home in the backyard. Ever since the kittens were born, Lala had been fascinated by them. She loved watching them play, and she always made sure they were well-fed.
“Mom, are we going now?” Lala asked excitedly as she tied her shoelaces.
“Almost, my little helper,” Mom replied with a smile. She was packing a basket, making sure to bring gloves, a small gardening fork, and a few empty sacks for the vegetables. “We have to be prepared. The farm is full of surprises this season.”
Lala’s eyes sparkled. She imagined big, bright pumpkins, green cucumbers, and juicy red tomatoes waiting to be picked. “Do you think the kittens will like the food we make today?” she asked as she picked up her tiny straw hat.
“They will love it,” Mom said, patting her on the head. “Fresh vegetables make everything better. Even the kittens will get a treat.”

The walk to Grandma’s farm was a short one, but every step felt like an adventure to Lala. The path was lined with wildflowers and buzzing bees, and the warm breeze carried the earthy scent of freshly tilled soil. As they reached the wooden gate of the farm, Lala gasped.
“Mom, look at all the vegetables!” she exclaimed. The farm looked like a giant green carpet spread out before them. Rows of lettuce, cabbage, beans, and carrots stretched as far as her eyes could see. Sunlight glistened on the dewdrops that still clung to the leaves.
Grandma, who was already at work, waved at them from the field. “Well, look who’s here! My little gardener and her helper mom,” she said warmly.
“Grandma!” Lala ran to hug her.
“You’re just in time, Lala,” Grandma said with a laugh. “The carrots are ready to be pulled, and the tomatoes are so ripe they might burst.”
Lala’s heart leapt with joy. She quickly grabbed a small basket and followed Grandma and Mom to the carrot patch.
“Remember, Lala,” Mom said, kneeling next to her, “you have to pull gently. Grab the green leaves and tug straight up.”
Lala nodded seriously. She dug her little fingers into the soil and pulled. Out popped a bright orange carrot, still covered in dirt. “Look, Mom! I got one!”
Mom chuckled. “That’s a beautiful carrot, sweetheart. Put it in the basket.”
For the next hour, Lala worked tirelessly alongside Mom and Grandma. She pulled carrots, plucked beans, and picked the juiciest tomatoes she could find. Her tiny hands grew dirty, but she didn’t mind. She felt proud, like a real farmer.
When their baskets were full, Lala wiped the sweat from her forehead and looked at their harvest. “We have so many vegetables! The kittens will have the best feast ever,” she said with a grin.
Grandma smiled. “Before you go, you should pick some herbs. Fresh basil and parsley will make your cooking even better.”
Lala carefully cut a bunch of fragrant basil, sniffing it with delight. “Mmm, it smells so good!”

After saying goodbye to Grandma, Lala and Mom carried their baskets home. The sun was higher now, and the kittens were already waiting in the yard, their tiny tails flicking with excitement.
“Meow! Meow!” they cried as Lala approached.
“Hello, my little friends,” Lala said, crouching down to pet them. “We’re going to make something yummy for you today!”
Mom smiled and started washing the vegetables. “Lala, why don’t you help me peel the carrots?” she asked.
“Okay, Mom!” Lala said, rolling up her sleeves. She loved helping in the kitchen almost as much as she loved playing with the kittens.
Together, they prepared a big pot of vegetable soup. The carrots and beans went in first, followed by diced tomatoes, and then the fresh herbs. The kitchen filled with a delicious aroma that made Lala’s stomach rumble.
“Mom, can I give the kittens some soup too?” Lala asked.
“Not the soup, but we can make them a special meal,” Mom replied. She set aside some boiled carrots and a little rice for the kittens.
As the soup simmered, Lala set a small plate for the kittens outside. “Here you go, my little babies,” she said as the kittens eagerly nibbled on the soft carrots. Watching them eat made her heart swell with happiness.
“See, they love it!” Lala exclaimed.
“Yes, they do,” Mom said with a smile, serving the soup into bowls. “And you did a wonderful job today, Lala. You helped harvest the vegetables, and you helped cook. That’s something to be proud of.”
Lala beamed. “I want to do this every week, Mom! The farm is so fun, and the kittens love our food.”

After lunch, Lala sat outside with the kittens, telling them all about the farm. “You should see the big tomatoes,” she whispered, as if the kittens could understand. One of the kittens climbed into her lap and curled up, purring softly.
Mom watched from the doorway, feeling a deep sense of warmth. These simple moments—picking vegetables, cooking together, and caring for animals—were the memories that would stay with Lala forever.
As the sun began to set, Lala hugged Mom tightly. “Thank you for taking me to the farm today,” she said softly.
Mom kissed her on the forehead. “You’re welcome, my little farmer. We’ll go again soon. There are always more vegetables to pick and more adventures to have.”
With that promise, Lala looked forward to their next farm day. She couldn’t wait to gather more fresh vegetables and cook another special meal for her beloved kittens.
