The sun was just beginning to set over the small, quiet village where CUTIS lived with his loyal companions—CUBIS, his playful puppy, and Lala, the mischievous but incredibly smart baby monkey. Their days were filled with laughter, running through fields, and exploring the little corners of their world. But on this particular evening, something unexpected happened—something that would test their bond and showcase the extraordinary intelligence of the baby monkey.
CUTIS, always full of energy, had spent the entire afternoon repairing the old wooden fence behind their house. The weather had been scorching hot, and although he had drunk some water, he hadn’t eaten much. As the day wore on, the heat and exhaustion began to take a toll on him. By the time he finished, CUTIS felt lightheaded, but he brushed it off, thinking it was just fatigue. Little did he know, his body was on the verge of collapse.
Lala, who had been watching CUTIS intently from a tree branch, sensed that something wasn’t right. Normally, CUTIS would smile at her, give her a playful wink, or offer her a slice of fruit. But this time, his face was pale, and his movements were slow and heavy. Suddenly, as he bent down to pick up a tool, CUTIS stumbled, swayed, and collapsed onto the ground.
The sound of CUTIS falling startled Lala. Her big, curious eyes widened as she quickly climbed down the tree. She approached him carefully, gently tugging at his arm and letting out soft cries as if trying to wake him up. “Eee-eee!” she screeched, her small hands patting his chest. But CUTIS didn’t respond.

Lala’s instincts kicked in. She might have been just a baby monkey, but she was clever and deeply attached to CUTIS. She understood that something was very wrong and that she needed help—fast. Without wasting another second, she darted off toward the front of the house, where Dad, the head of the family, was reading a newspaper on the porch.
The little monkey ran as fast as her tiny legs could carry her. She leapt onto the porch railing, chattering loudly, waving her arms, and tugging at Dad’s sleeve. At first, Dad thought Lala was just being playful, but then he noticed her panicked expression and the way she kept pointing toward the back of the house.
“Lala, what is it?” Dad asked, standing up. But Lala didn’t stop. She jumped down, looked back to make sure he was following, and ran toward CUTIS. Dad, realizing that something serious must have happened, quickly followed her.
When they reached the backyard, Dad’s heart sank. CUTIS was lying motionless on the ground. “CUTIS!” he shouted, rushing to his son’s side. He quickly checked for breathing and a pulse—thankfully, CUTIS was still breathing, but his face was drenched in sweat and his skin felt clammy.
“Lala, you did the right thing,” Dad said, glancing at the baby monkey who was anxiously hopping beside him. He immediately grabbed the water bottle lying nearby and sprinkled some water on CUTIS’s face. “CUTIS, wake up, son! Come on, open your eyes!” he urged.
After a few moments, CUTIS stirred slightly, groaning as he tried to open his eyes. Dad helped him sit up, holding him steady. “You fainted, CUTIS. You pushed yourself too hard in this heat,” Dad said gently. CUTIS blinked, trying to piece together what had happened.
“Lala… she got you?” CUTIS asked weakly, noticing the little monkey clinging to his shirt.
“Yes, she came to get me,” Dad replied with a proud smile. “She’s a smart one. She saved you.”
CUTIS reached out, petting Lala’s head. “Good girl, Lala,” he whispered, his voice still weak but full of gratitude. Lala chirped happily, as if understanding the praise, and snuggled close to him.

The Bond Between CUTIS and Lala
CUTIS had always treated Lala like family. Ever since she was rescued as a baby monkey, CUTIS had taken care of her, fed her, and taught her how to trust humans again. In return, Lala had formed a deep emotional bond with him. She followed him everywhere, imitating his actions and learning from his expressions. Moments like this showed that their connection went beyond simple companionship—it was built on love and understanding.
Dad, still worried, decided to take CUTIS inside the house to rest. “You need some sugar and salt in your system. It looks like you were dehydrated,” he said. He quickly prepared a glass of electrolyte water while CUTIS lay on the sofa with Lala by his side. The little monkey refused to leave him, placing her tiny hand on his chest as if to make sure he was still there.
CUBIS, the puppy, also sensed something was wrong and came trotting in, sniffing CUTIS and whining softly. CUTIS smiled weakly, petting both of his companions. “You two are my little heroes,” he said. “One day, I’ll repay you for all the love you give me.”
The Aftermath of the Incident
Later that evening, after CUTIS had regained his strength, Dad sat him down for a serious talk. “You need to take better care of yourself, CUTIS. You can’t just work all day without resting or eating properly. Today could have ended badly if it weren’t for Lala.”
CUTIS nodded. “I know, Dad. I’ll be more careful next time.”
Lala, still full of energy, tried to cheer CUTIS up by bringing him a small mango from the kitchen. She placed it in his hand, chattering happily as if to say, “Eat this and feel better!” CUTIS laughed and peeled the mango, sharing it with both Lala and CUBIS. It was a simple moment, but it reminded him of how precious life and love were.

A Lesson Learned
From that day on, CUTIS became more mindful of his health. He made sure to drink enough water, take breaks, and eat properly while working. He also spent more time playing with Lala and CUBIS, appreciating the joy they brought into his life.
The incident also made Dad realize just how intelligent and loyal the baby monkey was. “She’s not just a pet, CUTIS,” Dad said. “She’s family. And today, she proved it.”
CUTIS smiled, hugging Lala. “Yeah, she’s my little sister,” he said. Lala responded with a happy squeak, hugging him back in her own special way.
The Unbreakable Trio
In the days that followed, the bond between CUTIS, Lala, and CUBIS grew even stronger. Whenever CUTIS worked, Lala kept a close eye on him, and CUBIS would lie nearby, ready to alert Dad if anything seemed wrong. It was as if they had formed their own little team—each one looking out for the other.
Life returned to its usual rhythm, filled with laughter and playful adventures, but the memory of that evening remained a powerful reminder: sometimes, even the smallest creatures can show the greatest courage and intelligence.
