Jonathan Joss was best known for his voiceover work in the cartoon King of the Hill
King of the Hill star Jonathan Joss has died aged 59 after a neighbor fatally shot him during an argument, police have said.
The actor appeared in numerous TV shows, including Parks and Recreation, Ray Donovan and Tulsa King, but his most well-known role was that of John Redcorn on the long-running and popular cartoon show.
According to San Antonio Police, Joss is said to have gotten into a dispute with his neighbor, Sigfredo Ceja Alvarez, on Sunday (June 1), which led to Alvarez, 56, shooting Joss.
Variety reports that police were called to respond to a shooting on Sunday at around 7pm, where they found the 59-year-old at the side of the road after being shot numerous times. He was later pronounced dead at the scene.
Alvarez was taken into custody shortly after the incident and has since been charged with murder, the San Antonio Police Department confirmed on Monday (June 2)

Police have not yet revealed what led to the disagreement; however, Joss’s husband, Tristan Kern de Gonzales, has since taken to Facebook to share his version of events.

He wrote: “Jonathan and I had no weapons. We were not threatening anyone. We were grieving. We were standing side by side. When the man fired, Jonathan pushed me out of the way. He saved my life.
“Jonathan is my husband. He gave me more love in our time together than most people ever get. We were newlyweds. We picked Valentines Day.
“We were in the process of looking for a trailer and planning our future.”
Kern de Gonzales had previously described the incident as a hate crime, claiming that the couple were allegedly harassed because they were gay.
He alleged: “He started yelling violent homophobic slurs at us. He then raised a gun from his lap and fired.”
According to The New York Times, Kern de Gonzales further claimed that the couple had reported the alleged harassment to the authorities several times; however, it apparently continued.
In a statement released on Twitter, San Antonio Police said that ‘no evidence’ had yet been found to indicate the dispute had been due to Joss’s sexual orientation.

They said: “SAPD Homicide is currently investigating the murder of Mr. Jonathan Joss. Despite online claims of this being a hate crime, currently the investigation has found no evidence to indicate that the Mr. Joss’s murder was related to his sexual orientation.
“SAPD investigators handle these allegations very seriously and have thoroughly reviewed all available information. Should any new evidence come to light, the suspect will be charged accordingly.”
Kern de Gonzales said that his focus is now on ‘protecting Jonathan’s legacy and honoring the life we built together’.
He continued: “If your concern is how someone coped with trauma or how loudly they speak when recounting injustice and being ignored by authorities then you never truly cared about my husband.
“Jonathan saved my life. I will carry that forward. I will protect what he built.”

The 911 dispatcher’s urgent request to police has been revealed following the shocking incident, saying: “Got shots fired on the second floor. 362 needs to be en route to the Letcher County Courthouse.”
The Letcher County Sheriff, 43-year-old Shawn Stines was arrested at the courthouse, without incident, for allegedly shooting the judge and has since been charged with first-degree murder.
Authorities have launched an investigation into the shooting and have not yet confirmed whether Stines used his ‘duty’ weapon in the alleged shooting.
Police have said that Stines is so far cooperating with officers as they investigate the situation further.
The incident has come at a great surprise to the community and the Whitesburg Mayor, Tiffany Craft, has spoken to local media about how it has been ‘rocked to the core’.
She said: “These were two great pillars of the community that we have now, in a sense, lost.

“This is just one of those things where you are just waiting to wake up from the nightmare.
“You’d never dream that anything like this is ever going to happen in your small town, especially Whitesburg.
“And here we are and you just don’t know where to turn from one moment to the next.”
Individuals who have worked with the pair of them have also shared their shock and argued that the pair were in fact friends.
Letcher County Circuit Clerk Mike Watts said he knew both the judge and sheriff for decades and saw them almost daily for work.
Watts said. “Even the judge and the sheriff ate lunch together that day.”
While a motive is still being investigated, Kentucky State Police Trooper Matt Gayheart insisted authorities do know an argument transpired between the accused and the victim.

He said: “We know that it was an argument between the two that led up, but what exactly transpired prior to the shots being fired, that’s still things that we’re trying to get answers to”
He also said that the shooting was ‘an isolated incident and there is no threat to the public.’
At the time of the shooting, the court and local schools in the area went into lockdown, however.

Former child star Benji Gregory dies aged 46 after being found in parking lot
Benji Gregory was a much-loved child TV star
Much-loved child TV star Benji Gregory has died at the age of 46.
As per TMZ, the actor was found dead in his car in the parking lot of a Chase Bank in Peoria, Arizona, on June 13.
Those closest to Gregory believe that he was visiting the bank to deposit checks when he fell asleep in his vehicle.
Temperatures in Arizona rose as high as 109 degrees the day before.
TMZ reported that his service dog, Hans, was also found deceased.

The Maricopa County Medical Examiner’s Office has since told ABC7 Los Angeles that his cause of death is still pending.
Gregory’s older sister, Rebecca Hertzberg, told TMZ that he had depression, bipolar disorder and a sleep disorder that kept him awake for days.
Gregory, of course, rose to fame playing Brian Tanner in 101 episodes of ALF from 1986 to 1990.
The star was interviewed by People in 2000, where he reflected on his work in the show.
He said: “The only times it felt like work was when the lights were on, and it was real hot.”
The title character, whose acronym stands for ‘Alien Life Form’, crashes into the garage of the Tanner family’s suburban home.
And that’s where the story of ALF begins, with Paul Fusco, who co-created the series with Tom Patchett, behind the legendary performance.

Gregory also made appearances in a bunch of other TV shows, including The A-Team, T.J. Hooker, Fantasy Island and The Twilight Zone – all of which he appeared in the 1980s and 1990s.
Gregory also lent his voice to various characters in animated series.
The most notable one is arguably Fantastic Max, in which the late actor voiced Ben.
Gregory has featured as himself in the television series The More You Know, the children’s game show I’m Telling!, and even making a cameo in an episode of Fun House.

He decided to step away from Hollywood relatively early into his career to pursue other interests.
Gregory even had a stint in the US Navy, enlisting in 2003 before graduating to become an aerographer’s mate, specializing in meteorology and oceanography.
And Gregory’s talents didn’t stop there, as he used his expertise in that area to provide forecasts and warnings for aviation and nautical safety.
Many people have taken to social media to share tributes to the late star.
One wrote: “Condolences to his family and loved ones.”
Another added: “Sad to hear, that was a great show. RIP.”
While someone else commented: “This hurts. Benji Gregory was a sweet, down to earth child actor and when us teens were partying, he was a straight edged skater. I’ll never forget he wrote in my yearbook ‘Hope you become Miss America someday’.”Featured Image Credit: Instagram/benji_gregory / YouTube/ALFtv

UnitedHealthcare CEO fatally shot outside hotel in possible ‘targeted attack’
UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson has died aged 50
Brian Thompson, the UnitedHealthcare CEO, has been fatally shot outside a hotel in a possible ‘targeted attack’, according to multiple reports.
Thompson, 50, was killed after being shot in the chest shortly before 7am EST on Wednesday (4 December) outside the Hilton Hotel in Manhattan, Reuters reports.
The CEO was rushed to Mount Sinai Hospital in a critical condition following the shooting, but was pronounced dead after arriving at the healthcare centre.
UnitedHealthcare, the largest private insurer in the US, was said to be holding an investor conference on Wednesday, but that was quickly canceled following the shooting.

Andrew Witty, CEO of United Healthcare’s parent company UnitedHealth Group, said at the event: “We’re dealing with a very serious medical situation with one of our team members. As a result, I’m afraid, we’re going to have to bring to a close the event.”
The suspect believed to have shot Thompson remains at large, with witnesses stating he ran from the scene before jumping on a bicycle and making an escape.
“I wasn’t paying attention and then I heard the shot,” Amar Abdelmula, a driver who saw the horrible incident unfold, told PIX11. “It was silent gun, black gun, saw him after he shot him and was running across the street. I tried to take a picture, but too far away, not clear.
“I was shocked. First time I see crime in front of me. I was afraid he (would) shoot me too, my car, I saw everything.”
Investigators have confirmed they have video evidence of the incident – though it remains unclear what the suspect’s motive was at this time.
As per the BBC, a spokesperson for Hilton said the hotel chain was “deeply saddened by this morning’s events in the area and our thoughts are with all affected by the tragedy.”

He took up the role of group CEO in 2021, which earned him over $10 million a year.
Tim Walz, the state’s governor, said: “This is horrifying news and a terrible loss for the business and healthcare community in Minnesota. Minnesota is sending our prayers to Brian’s family and the UnitedHealthcare team.”Featured Image Credit: UnitedHealthcare Group/Getty Images/BRYAN R. SMITH
