It was a peaceful afternoon on the farm. The sky was soft and blue, and the trees rustled gently in the breeze. Birds chirped in the distance, and the golden dog CUTIS trotted along the dusty path, tail wagging happily. Beside him, a small baby monkey named Momo swung playfully from the low branches, making silly faces and squeaky sounds.
Inside the farmhouse, a gentle, kind woman named Linh was humming softly while preparing fresh mango slices. Linh was pregnant, expecting her first baby in just a few months. Her belly had grown round, and her steps were slower, but her heart was full of loveâespecially for her two little companions, CUTIS and Momo, who followed her everywhere.
Suddenly, a sharp cry echoed across the yard.
âAhhâ!â
It was Linh.
CUTIS stopped in his tracks, ears up. Momo dropped from a branch and ran toward the sound. They reached the back of the house and found Linh lying on the ground, her face twisted in pain, one hand holding her belly and the other clutching her ankle. She had slipped on a patch of wet stone while watering the garden.
âCUTIS… Momo…â Linhâs voice trembled. âI canât move.â
CUTIS ran up and nuzzled her face, whining. Momo climbed onto her shoulder and squeaked with concern, gently patting her cheek with his tiny hand. Linh gave a weak smile, but her eyes were filled with worry.
âGo… go get help,â she whispered.
CUTIS barked once, then bolted down the path toward the village. Momo, unsure whether to stay or go, chose to stay by Linhâs side. He wrapped his little arms around her neck and leaned into her chest, humming in his monkey way, trying to soothe her.
Minutes felt like hours.

Linh tried not to panic. She was in pain, and worst of all, she was scared something might happen to her baby. She closed her eyes and focused on breathing deeply, just like the doctor had taught her.
Momo, watching her closely, began doing something extraordinary. He reached into the basket Linh had dropped and pulled out her water bottle. Though it was heavy for him, he dragged it over and placed it near her lips. Linh managed a sip, grateful for the cool water.
Then Momo darted into the kitchen through the open back door. A few minutes later, he returned with a small towel soaked in water, dragging it behind him. He laid it gently across Linhâs forehead, imitating what he had seen her do when someone was sick.
Tears filled Linhâs eyes. âYouâre such a good boy,â she whispered to Momo.
Back on the road, CUTIS ran as fast as he could. His paws hit the ground like drumbeats, and his eyes scanned for people. He reached the edge of the village where a few farmers were loading sacks of rice onto a truck. CUTIS barked, then ran in circles and tugged at one manâs pants.
âHey! Whatâs going on, boy?â one of them said.
CUTIS barked again, then dashed a few steps away, looking back as if to say, âFollow me!â
The farmers, recognizing Linhâs loyal dog, knew something was wrong. âLinh might be in trouble,â one of them shouted. âLetâs go!â
Moments later, a small group of neighbors followed CUTIS back to the house.
When they arrived, they found Linh still on the ground, pale and sweating, but conscious. Momo was sitting beside her, holding her hand.
âThank goodness!â one woman cried. âShe needs help now!â
They lifted Linh carefully and carried her inside. One of them called the local clinic. Soon, a nurse arrived, examined Linh, and reassured her that the baby was okayâbut she would need to rest completely for several days, and her ankle was sprained.
âYouâre lucky CUTIS got us quickly,â the nurse said gently. âAnd it looks like you had a little nurse monkey here, too!â

Linh smiled through tears. âI donât know what I wouldâve done without them.â
That night, as she lay on the bed with her foot elevated and her hands gently resting on her belly, Linh looked over at the two small figures by her side. CUTIS was curled up on the floor, eyes alert and protective. Momo sat quietly beside her pillow, watching her breathe.
âCome here,â she whispered.
CUTIS jumped up beside her gently, resting his head near her belly. Momo climbed up to sit on her chest, placing a tiny hand over her heart.
Linh began to cryâsilent, grateful tears.
It wasnât just that she was safe now, or that the baby was okay. It was the overwhelming love she felt from these two little beings, who had acted not like pets, but like family. No, more than family. They were guardians. Angels with fur and tiny fingers.
In the days that followed, CUTIS and Momo continued their care. CUTIS helped by bringing things to herâblankets, even the TV remote. Momo became a little helper, mimicking everything the nurse did. He would fetch warm towels, bring her fruit, and sit beside her while she rested.
One morning, Linh woke up to the sound of soft music. She opened her eyes to see Momo dancing gently by the window, holding a flower he had picked from the garden. CUTIS sat beside him, tail thumping softly in rhythm.
Linh laughed. The baby in her belly kicked, as if joining the moment.
Later that day, she recorded a short video of her two heroes and posted it online with the caption:

âI had an accident, but my dog and my baby monkey took care of me in the most surprising and special way. I cried because Iâve never felt so loved.â
Within hours, the video went viral. Messages of love, support, and awe poured in from people all over the world.
âYou are lucky to have them,â one comment read.
âTheyâre not just animalsâtheyâre pure hearts in furry little bodies,â wrote another.
But Linh didnât need the world to tell her that. She knew it already.
Every day, she looked at CUTIS and Momo and felt a bond that words could never fully express.
And when the baby finally arrived, healthy and strong, CUTIS was the first to sniff her gently, and Momo reached out to touch her tiny foot with wonder.
They had protected her before she was even born.
Now, they were her guardians for life.
