We’ve Had To Make Some Changes | God Is In Control

Life is full of unexpected twists and turns. No matter how carefully we plan, how much we prepare, or how desperately we try to hold onto control, change is inevitable. And sometimes, the changes we face aren’t the ones we would have chosen. But in those moments, when the path ahead seems uncertain and the weight of change feels overwhelming, one truth remains: God is in control.

This is our story of surrendering to His plan, making adjustments, and trusting that even when life shifts in ways we don’t understand, His purpose remains perfect.

The Unexpected Shift

We never saw it coming. Things were going smoothly—or at least, we thought they were. We had our plans in place, our goals laid out, and our expectations set. But then, life threw us a curveball, forcing us to reconsider everything we had built.

At first, it felt frustrating. Change can be uncomfortable, especially when we’ve worked hard to establish a routine. Whether it’s a job transition, a move, a shift in relationships, or an unforeseen challenge, adjusting to something new requires faith. And in the beginning, that faith can feel shaky.

Struggling to Understand

When things don’t go according to plan, it’s natural to ask, “Why?”

  • Why did this happen now?
  • Why is God allowing this detour?
  • Why does it feel like everything is shifting beyond my control?

These questions circled in our minds as we wrestled with the reality of our circumstances. It wasn’t easy. Letting go of comfort and predictability is never easy. But then we remembered something powerful: God sees what we cannot. His perspective is eternal, while ours is limited to the present moment.

Trusting in His Plan

We had a choice: resist the changes or embrace them with trust. And as difficult as it was, we chose the latter. Surrendering our plans to God wasn’t about giving up; it was about acknowledging that His ways are higher than ours.

Proverbs 3:5-6 reminds us:

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to Him, and He will make your paths straight.”

We held onto this verse as we navigated the unknown. Instead of seeing change as an interruption, we began to view it as redirection. What if this wasn’t happening to us but for us? What if God was leading us to something better?

Finding Peace in the Process

As we leaned into faith, something incredible happened—we found peace. The very things that once felt like disruptions became opportunities to witness God’s faithfulness in action.

  • The closed doors led to new and unexpected blessings.
  • The uncertainty taught us to rely on Him more deeply.
  • The changes we once feared became the very things that strengthened our faith.

One of the most beautiful aspects of surrendering to God’s control is realizing that we don’t have to have all the answers. We don’t need to see the whole picture to trust that He is guiding each step. The weight of figuring everything out is lifted when we place our confidence in His hands.

A New Perspective

Looking back, we can see how every shift, every unexpected turn, and every difficult moment was shaping something greater. What we once saw as setbacks were actually setups for something better.

If you’re in a season of change right now, wondering why things aren’t going the way you expected, take heart. God is in control. He sees the full story, and His plans are always for your good.

Romans 8:28 reassures us:

“And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love Him, who have been called according to His purpose.”

No matter what changes come your way, remember that He is leading you toward something beautiful. Trust, surrender, and know that His hands are always guiding your journey.
