It was a bright morning when something unusual happened in the cozy house of the monkey family. Lala, the playful little monkey with curious eyes and boundless energy, had been extra quiet that day. Mom monkey noticed it first — no running, no giggles, and no mess in the living room. That was strange.
“Lala?” Mom called softly, peeking into the kitchen. No sign of her.
Mom walked to the backyard where Lala usually played with her toy wagon and sand bucket. Still no trace.
She walked back inside, starting to feel a little worried. But just as she was about to go up the stairs to check the bedrooms, she noticed something peculiar: her favorite cozy blanket and a small pink pillow were missing from the couch. “Hmm,” she murmured, scratching her head. “Where could she be?”
Meanwhile, upstairs in the farthest room, something very sneaky was happening.
Earlier that morning, Mom had brought home a surprise for Lala—a brand-new bed! It was small and perfect for a young monkey, painted in soft purple and white colors with tiny moon and star stickers. The bed even had a little drawer underneath where Lala could keep her favorite stuffed animals. But Mom hadn’t told Lala yet. She wanted to reveal the surprise at bedtime.
But Lala, as clever and curious as she was, had seen the delivery man carrying something upstairs. She’d quietly followed behind, unnoticed, and peeked through the half-closed door.
The moment she saw the bed, her eyes lit up with pure delight. “A new bed?” she whispered, her heart thumping with excitement.
She tiptoed back downstairs, trying not to make a sound. Then, with great care, she grabbed her favorite soft blanket and her pink pillow. She hugged them tightly to her chest and began her mission.
She slowly climbed the stairs, looking left and right like a little spy. Her tiny feet made soft tapping sounds on the wooden steps. When she reached the new bed, she squealed a little and quickly covered her mouth. “Shhh!” she told herself with wide eyes.
Lala carefully climbed into the new bed, wrapping herself in the blanket and placing the pillow just right. She tucked herself in and sighed with happiness. “So soft… so comfy… so perfect,” she whispered. She pulled the blanket up to her chin and closed her eyes, pretending she was on a cloud.

But this wasn’t just about trying the bed. No, Lala was hiding. She didn’t want Mom to know she had found the bed early. She wanted it all to herself, at least for a little while.
Back downstairs, Mom finally decided to check the bedrooms.
She knocked on the door softly. “Lala? Are you in here?”
No answer.
She opened the door slowly and smiled when she saw the blanket-covered lump on the new bed. Mom’s heart melted. There she was—Lala, sound asleep with a peaceful little smile on her face.
“Oh, my silly girl,” Mom whispered.
But Lala wasn’t really asleep.
She peeked out from under the blanket and gasped. “Mom! I’m sorry… I didn’t mean to sneak in…”
Mom laughed and sat on the edge of the bed. “I was looking for you everywhere! But now I see you found your surprise.”
Lala sat up, her face pink with embarrassment. “I saw the man bring it upstairs… I just wanted to see it.”
“And then?” Mom smiled, gently brushing Lala’s hair.
“And then I loved it so much… I wanted to sleep in it right away… So I took the blanket and pillow and… hid,” Lala said sheepishly.
Mom couldn’t help but laugh. “You little monkey!”
Lala laughed too and hugged Mom tightly. “It’s the best bed ever.”
“I’m glad you love it,” Mom said, giving her a kiss on the forehead. “But next time, maybe tell me before you sneak off, okay? I was a little worried.”

“Okay, I promise!” Lala nodded.
Just then, Daddy Monkey peeked in. “What’s all the noise about?” he asked.
Mom turned to him, smiling. “Lala discovered her surprise early.”
Daddy laughed, “Looks like she couldn’t resist!”
Lala proudly showed off the little drawer under the bed and even demonstrated how she could jump in and out quickly. “And look!” she said, pulling her stuffed bunny out of her backpack and placing it on the pillow. “Now Bunny has a home too.”
That night, Lala insisted on sleeping in her new bed for the first time, even though it was earlier than planned. She brushed her teeth, put on her favorite pajamas, and snuggled in with all her stuffed friends. Mom and Dad kissed her goodnight, and Lala drifted off to sleep, her heart full of joy.

But the story didn’t end there.
A few days later, Lala invited her cousin Lulu over to play. The first thing she did was proudly show her the new bed.
“Wow!” Lulu said, eyes wide. “It’s so cool! Can I try it?”
Lala beamed. “Only for five minutes!” she giggled.
The two little monkeys took turns jumping on the bed, arranging their toys, and even pretending the bed was a spaceship flying to the moon.
That night, after Lulu had gone home, Mom tucked Lala in again.
“I’m really proud of you,” she said.
“Why?” Lala asked.
“For being honest, for taking care of your things, and for sharing with Lulu. That makes you a big girl
Lala yawned and smiled sleepily. “Thanks, Mom.”
As the stars twinkled outside the window, Lala’s soft snores filled the room. And in her dreams, her bed transformed into a magical flying cloud, taking her to places full of sparkles, laughter, and cotton-candy trees.
All thanks to the new bed that she just couldn’t resist—so much so, that she snuck her blanket and pillow to hide from Mom, just to enjoy it a little early.
And honestly? Mom didn’t mind one bit.
