The sun peeked through the trees, casting golden rays across the little monkey village. Birds chirped, leaves rustled softly, and in the middle of it all sat CUTIS, the funniest, most curious little monkey anyone had ever met. With his soft brown fur, bright eyes full of mischief, and a tail that never stopped moving, CUTIS was a bundle of energy. But today, something unusual was happening — he was bored.
Usually, CUTIS had a group of monkey friends running around the trees, playing tag or stealing bananas from the farmer’s cart. But this morning, the forest seemed quiet. Everyone was busy — Mama Monkey was washing fruit in the stream, Grandpa Monkey was napping on a rock, and the older monkeys were off collecting coconuts. CUTIS sighed dramatically and looked around, scratching his little head.
“Where is the baby monkey?” he muttered, scanning the bushes as if expecting the little one to pop out any second. “I want to play!”
CUTIS didn’t like quiet mornings. He liked laughter, running, and a little bit of chaos. So, he decided to go find Baby Monkey himself. He straightened up his tiny body, puffed his chest like a brave explorer, and set off on a mission — to find his best playmate!
As CUTIS hopped through the forest, he called out in his usual playful tone, “Heeey! Baby Monkey! Where are you? Let’s play hide and seek!”

The forest echoed with his voice, but there was no answer. He peeked behind banana leaves, jumped onto rocks, and even looked inside hollow logs. Nothing. The only sound he heard was the rustle of the wind and the occasional bird call.
He stopped to think. “Hmm… if I were Baby Monkey, where would I hide?”
CUTIS tapped his chin, then suddenly his eyes lit up. “Of course! The mango tree!” That was Baby Monkey’s favorite spot because of the sweet fruits hanging low enough for him to grab.
So CUTIS sprinted toward the mango grove, leaping from branch to branch with his tail swinging behind him like a banner. When he reached the tree, he climbed up quickly, his little fingers gripping the bark with ease.
But when he peeked into the branches, he saw — nothing. Just a few mangoes swaying gently. CUTIS frowned. “No Baby Monkey here either?”
He decided to wait. Maybe Baby Monkey would come soon. So CUTIS sat on a branch and grabbed a mango to snack on. As he munched happily, a butterfly fluttered by. CUTIS tilted his head curiously, then reached out to catch it — but the butterfly darted away. CUTIS giggled and followed it, jumping across branches trying to catch it. His giggles echoed through the forest like music.
Suddenly, a familiar giggle answered back. CUTIS froze. That laugh — he knew it! He turned around and saw a little brown face peeking from behind a tree.

“Baby Monkey!” CUTIS shouted in excitement. “I found you!”
But Baby Monkey just laughed and ran off. CUTIS gasped, then grinned. “Oh, so that’s how you want to play, huh? Okay! Game on!”
And with that, the chase began.
CUTIS raced after Baby Monkey through the forest, their laughter filling the air. They darted past trees, leapt over rocks, and swung from vines like acrobats. Sometimes CUTIS would almost catch Baby Monkey, but the little one would slip away at the last second, giggling so hard he could barely run straight.
At one point, CUTIS decided to use his “super sneak” trick. He hid behind a tree and waited for Baby Monkey to pass. When the little one came hopping by, CUTIS jumped out yelling, “Gotcha!”
Baby Monkey squealed and tumbled onto the grass, both of them laughing uncontrollably. CUTIS wrapped his arms around Baby Monkey in a big hug, his tail swishing happily. “Finally! I caught you!”
Baby Monkey giggled. “No fair! You scared me!”
CUTIS smirked playfully. “That’s what makes it funny!”
After a few minutes of laughing, they decided to take a break under a shady tree. CUTIS plucked two bananas from a nearby bunch and handed one to Baby Monkey. They peeled them together and munched quietly, their tails twitching side by side.

“Where were you this morning?” CUTIS asked between bites. “I looked everywhere!”
Baby Monkey shrugged. “I was helping Mama wash the fruit.”
CUTIS made a face. “That’s boring! You should’ve told me. I almost talked to a butterfly out of loneliness!”
Baby Monkey burst out laughing, banana almost falling from his hand. “A butterfly? CUTIS, you’re so silly!”
“Hey!” CUTIS said, pretending to be offended. “That butterfly was my temporary friend until you showed up!”
They both laughed again, rolling on the grass.
After resting, Baby Monkey suddenly got an idea. “Let’s play a new game!” he said excitedly.
CUTIS’s ears perked up. “What game?”
“Banana Toss!” Baby Monkey announced proudly. “We throw the banana peel into the air, and whoever catches it with their tail wins!”
CUTIS clapped his hands. “That sounds fun! Let’s do it!”
So they started playing. Baby Monkey tossed a peel high up, and CUTIS tried to catch it — but it landed on his head instead. Baby Monkey burst out laughing. CUTIS looked ridiculous, the banana peel like a yellow hat!
“Oh no!” CUTIS exclaimed dramatically, pretending to faint. “The banana has taken over my brain!”
Baby Monkey laughed so hard he rolled on the ground. CUTIS quickly grabbed another peel and threw it back. “Your turn!”

Baby Monkey tried to catch it but missed, and the peel landed on his nose. CUTIS pointed and laughed until tears came to his eyes.
The two monkeys continued playing until they were too tired to move. The ground was littered with banana peels, and both were lying flat on their backs, looking up at the sky, smiling from ear to ear.
The sun began to set, painting the forest in soft orange light. The breeze cooled down, and the sounds of the evening animals filled the air. CUTIS looked at Baby Monkey, still giggling softly beside him, and felt happy.
He whispered, “You know what, Baby Monkey? You’re my best friend.”
Baby Monkey smiled sleepily. “You’re my best friend too, CUTIS.”
They bumped their tiny fists together and shared one last giggle. CUTIS’s eyes glowed with warmth — all his searching, his silly adventures, his butterfly chase — it had all been worth it.
Because nothing made him happier than laughing and playing with his best friend.

As they got up to head home, CUTIS couldn’t resist one last joke. He picked up a banana peel and placed it on his head again, saying in a deep voice, “I am Banana King! Bow before me!”
Baby Monkey burst into another round of laughter so loud that even the parrots squawked in surprise. CUTIS grinned proudly. Mission accomplished — his best friend was happy again.
And so, as the stars began to twinkle in the night sky, the two little monkeys walked home together, still giggling and swinging their tails in rhythm. CUTIS had learned something special that day — that fun wasn’t just about running or shouting, but about sharing laughter with someone you love.
In the heart of the quiet forest, CUTIS and Baby Monkey’s laughter faded into the night, leaving behind echoes of joy — a reminder that even the smallest creatures can bring the biggest smiles.
So funny, so cute, and so full of love — that’s CUTIS, the monkey who just wanted to play. 🐒💛🤣
