The sun shone brightly over the little forest clearing where CUTIS and baby monkey loved to play. The morning air was warm, carrying the sweet scent of flowers and ripe fruits from the nearby trees. Today, something unusual caught CUTIS’s attention — a bright, round, green fruit sitting in the middle of the clearing.
“Wow! What’s that?” CUTIS exclaimed, hopping closer. His big brown eyes sparkled with curiosity.
Baby monkey scampered over, munching a banana along the way. “Hmm… it’s round, green, and shiny. Maybe it’s a giant berry?”
CUTIS tapped it gently with his finger. Thud! The fruit wobbled slightly. CUTIS jumped back, startled. “It moves!”
Baby monkey leaned in closer, sniffing the fruit. “Smells funny… and sweet! Maybe it’s magic?”
CUTIS tilted his head, thinking. “Magic? Or maybe… it’s for monkeys!”
The fruit was a watermelon — big, round, and perfectly ripe. But to CUTIS and baby monkey, it looked like a giant green ball from another planet. They circled it, poking it, jumping around it, and whispering to each other like little explorers.
“I’m gonna touch it!” CUTIS said bravely. He tapped it with both hands. Thump-thump! The watermelon rocked slightly. CUTIS jumped back again. “It’s alive! I knew it!”
Baby monkey laughed, pointing at CUTIS. “It’s not alive! It’s just… funny!”
CUTIS frowned. “Funny? How can a fruit be funny?”
But before he could answer, CUTIS had an idea. “I bet we can make it roll!” He pushed the watermelon with both hands, and it started to wobble slowly across the clearing. CUTIS’s eyes widened. “It moves!”
Baby monkey clapped his hands. “Roll it! Roll it!”
CUTIS and baby monkey took turns pushing the watermelon, racing with it like it was a soccer ball. The watermelon rolled awkwardly, wobbling and bumping into trees, leaving little scratches on the grass. Every time it wobbled, the monkeys fell over laughing.
At one point, CUTIS decided to jump on top of the watermelon. He bounced lightly, and the watermelon rolled underneath him. “Whee!” CUTIS shouted, sliding across the grass. Baby monkey laughed so hard he nearly fell backward.
“CUTIS! You look like a bouncing ball!” baby monkey shouted.
CUTIS giggled, holding on tightly. “I am the King of Watermelon!”

Not wanting to be left out, baby monkey grabbed the watermelon too, trying to push CUTIS off. Soon, the two monkeys were rolling together with the watermelon between them, tumbling over each other, squealing and laughing uncontrollably.
“AHHH! Stop! I can’t hold on!” CUTIS shouted, slipping off and landing on the grass with a soft thud.
Baby monkey rolled off in the opposite direction, his cheeks red from laughing so hard. The watermelon sat in the middle of the clearing, wobbling slightly as if it were laughing along with them.
CUTIS’s eyes gleamed with another idea. “Watermelon fight!” he exclaimed.
Baby monkey tilted his head. “Fight? But it’s a fruit!”
CUTIS grinned. “Yes! We throw it at each other!”
They both grabbed the watermelon — well, as much as their small arms could handle — and tried pushing it toward each other. The watermelon rolled slowly, and neither could lift it properly. Soon, it slipped from both their hands and rolled straight into a puddle nearby, splashing water everywhere.
“WAAAH!” both monkeys shouted as water sprayed onto their faces. CUTIS shook his head, sending droplets flying, and baby monkey spun around laughing.
Then, as if the watermelon had a mind of its own, it began to tip over… and CRASH! The watermelon split open, spilling bright red juicy flesh all over the grass. CUTIS and baby monkey froze, staring at the mess.
“Uh-oh…” CUTIS said slowly. His face was covered in sticky red juice.
Baby monkey poked it with a finger. “It’s squishy… and yummy!”
CUTIS tasted a small piece, and his eyes widened. “Mmm! It’s sweet! Like candy!”
Before they knew it, both monkeys were munching on the watermelon, juice running down their faces, their hands and fur stained red. They laughed, squished, and squelched the watermelon as they played, making little splashes and slipping around in the sticky juice.
“This is the funniest fruit ever!” CUTIS exclaimed, holding up a piece of watermelon like a trophy.
Baby monkey agreed. “Super funny! Watermelon is magic!”
As they played, they didn’t notice Mom coming toward the clearing. She stopped abruptly, hands on her hips, and stared at the sight: two little monkeys covered in red juice, a broken watermelon in the puddle, and laughter echoing through the forest.
“CUTIS! Baby monkey! What happened here?” she shouted, though her eyes twinkled with amusement.
CUTIS froze, holding a piece of watermelon. “Uh… we were… um… helping the watermelon roll?”
Baby monkey added quickly, “Yes! And… testing its taste!”
Mom shook her head, laughing despite herself. “Helping and testing? You made a mess!”

CUTIS and baby monkey looked at each other, sticky and red from head to toe. CUTIS shrugged. “It’s… funny.”
Mom laughed again, sitting down on the grass. “You two are impossible! But… I can’t stay mad. Look at your faces. You’re having so much fun!”
CUTIS and baby monkey grinned, still holding watermelon pieces. “Yes! It’s super funny, Mom!”
Mom shook her head. “Alright. Eat some, but then we clean up together.”
The two monkeys continued munching happily, smearing juice on each other’s faces and making silly faces. Baby monkey put a tiny piece on his head like a hat, and CUTIS pretended the watermelon slice was a crown. They rolled on the grass, sliding in juice puddles, squealing, and laughing until their tummies hurt.
When they finally finished, they lay on the grass, sticky, tired, and completely satisfied. CUTIS looked at baby monkey, and both of them giggled again.
“Next time, we find another funny fruit!” CUTIS said.
Baby monkey nodded. “Yes! Maybe a pineapple… or a mango… or even a coconut!”
Mom watched them, shaking her head but smiling warmly. “I better hide all the fruits next time.”
CUTIS turned to baby monkey, whispering, “Or… we sneak anyway.”
They both burst into giggles again, their laughter echoing through the forest.
The day ended with the monkeys lying under the shade of a big tree, sticky, red, and happy. The broken watermelon sat nearby, half-eaten, as if it had joined them in their funny adventure. Birds chirped above, and the warm sun began to set, casting a golden glow over the clearing.
CUTIS yawned, leaning against baby monkey. “Funny day, huh?”
Baby monkey nodded, eyes half-closed. “The funniest! Watermelon is the best fruit ever!”
CUTIS smiled. “Yes… the super funny watermelon.”
And as the forest settled into the quiet evening, CUTIS and baby monkey dreamed of their next fruit-filled adventure — always ready for the next funny, sticky, and magical moment.
Moral of the story:
Sometimes the simplest things — like a watermelon — can bring the most joy, laughter, and unforgettable memories. Never underestimate the power of curiosity, fun, and a little sticky mess. 🍉😂🐒
