Bon Slipped and Fell, Sumi Ran to Ask 🐒💦💞

It was a bright, playful morning in the little courtyard where the two baby monkeys, Bon and Sumi, loved to spend their days. The air smelled of ripe fruit and sunshine, and the sound of laughter filled the space. The pair were inseparable — wherever Bon went, Sumi followed, her curious eyes always watching what her best friend was up to.

That morning, Bon was feeling especially brave. He had found a shiny metal basin filled with water left out by their caretaker. To Bon, it looked like the perfect playground — the way the sunlight sparkled on the surface made it irresistible.

Sumi, ever the careful one, sat on a low wooden stool nearby, munching on a piece of banana. She watched Bon with a mix of curiosity and concern. “Bon, be careful,” her little face seemed to say, but Bon only squeaked happily and waved at her as if to show he was fine.

“Look, Sumi!” Bon chattered, dipping his hand into the water. The cool sensation made him giggle. He splashed a little, sending tiny droplets flying everywhere. The dog, Coco, barked once and wagged her tail, thinking Bon was inviting her to play too.

Sumi tilted her head, half amused, half nervous. She had seen Bon get into trouble before — climbing too high, grabbing fruit from the kitchen, and once even slipping on wet leaves. But Bon never seemed to learn.

The water glistened like a mirror, and Bon leaned closer, fascinated by his reflection. He poked at it, trying to touch the “other monkey” inside. Then, with a playful squeak, he tried to step onto the basin’s rim.

It was slippery.

His tiny foot wobbled, and before he could steady himself — whoosh! — he slipped.

There was a loud splash followed by a sharp thud! Bon landed awkwardly, half in the water and half on the ground.

Sumi dropped her banana immediately. Her eyes went wide with shock. “Bon!” she cried out, leaping from the stool.

The sound of the splash brought everyone’s attention. Coco barked again and ran over, tail wagging nervously. The caretaker looked up from the doorway, startled by the commotion.

But Sumi was the first to reach him.

She knelt beside Bon, her small hands trembling as she touched his shoulder. “Bon?” she squeaked softly, her voice full of worry. Bon blinked, dazed, his fur wet and sticking to his face. For a moment, he didn’t move, and Sumi’s little heart began to race.

She leaned closer, pressing her tiny face near his. “Bon? Are you okay?”

Bon groaned softly, blinking away the water from his eyes. His tail twitched weakly. Then, with a small cough, he sat up, rubbing his head. A few water droplets flew from his fur as he shook himself.

Sumi let out a huge sigh of relief, her little chest rising and falling quickly. She immediately wrapped her arms around him in a tight hug. “You scared me!” her squeaks seemed to say as she clung to him.

Bon blinked, looking a bit embarrassed but also comforted. He gave a small squeal, patting her arm as if to say, “I’m okay now.”

But Sumi wasn’t fully convinced. She looked him over carefully, inspecting his knees, arms, and tail for any scratches. When she saw a small red mark on his leg, her eyes widened again.

“Oh no!” she squealed and turned toward the caretaker, who was already walking over. Sumi hopped in front of her, waving her little hands frantically.

“Eee eee!” she cried, pointing at Bon’s leg.

The caretaker knelt down and smiled gently. “It’s okay, Sumi,” he said softly. “He’s fine. Just a little scrape.”

But Sumi wasn’t satisfied. She stayed by Bon’s side, holding his hand tightly while the caretaker checked him. Bon sat still, looking up with wide eyes, perhaps realizing for the first time how worried his friend had been.

After a quick check, the caretaker cleaned the small scrape with a damp cloth. Bon winced a little, but Sumi immediately reached out to stroke his head, whispering soft little squeaks of comfort.

“There,” said the caretaker, giving Bon a reassuring pat. “All better.”

Sumi didn’t let go, though. She followed Bon everywhere for the next hour — even when he tried to climb the wooden chair again, she pulled his tail gently as if to say, “No, not again!”

Bon laughed, shaking off the memory of the fall. But Sumi’s big, round eyes still showed traces of worry.

To make her feel better, Bon grabbed a banana from the fruit basket and broke it in half. He offered one piece to her, his little hand reaching out shyly. Sumi hesitated, then took it. They sat side by side, eating quietly.

After a few bites, Bon leaned his head against her shoulder. He wasn’t hurt badly, but her concern had touched him. Sumi looked down at him and gave a tiny smile, gently patting his back.

“Don’t scare me again, okay?” her expression seemed to say.

Bon nodded, eyes soft and full of gratitude.

Later that afternoon, the two were playing again — this time, safely on the soft grass. Bon picked flowers and handed them to Sumi. She accepted them one by one, stacking them into a small bouquet.

Every now and then, Sumi would glance at the water basin and shake her head. Bon noticed and laughed, clapping his hands mischievously. But when he tried to go near it again, Sumi quickly stood up and blocked him, arms stretched wide.

“No!” she squeaked, baring her little teeth playfully.

Bon chuckled but nodded obediently, remembering how scared she had been earlier. Instead, he picked up a leaf and began pretending it was a tiny boat, letting it float on the surface of the water without touching it. Sumi giggled — she liked this safer version of play much better.

Coco lay nearby, her head resting on her paws, watching the two baby monkeys with patient eyes. Every so often, she wagged her tail as if approving their friendship.

The caretaker, sitting on the porch, smiled quietly at the scene. He had seen many baby monkeys grow up under his care, but Bon and Sumi’s bond was something special. They weren’t just playmates; they were like siblings — one wild and curious, the other caring and cautious.

As evening came and the golden light faded, the two friends grew sleepy. Bon leaned against Sumi, yawning widely. Sumi gently brushed his damp fur with her tiny hands, still making sure he was okay.

The caretaker approached with a soft blanket and scooped them both up. Bon curled up instantly, eyes half closed, while Sumi nestled beside him protectively.

Before falling asleep, Sumi pressed her hand lightly over Bon’s leg — the one that had the little scrape — as if checking one last time. Satisfied, she sighed and closed her eyes.

Bon smiled in his sleep and made a small noise that sounded like laughter.

The night grew quiet. The stars twinkled overhead, and the soft sound of crickets filled the air. The basin still reflected the moonlight, but now it was calm, peaceful — no more splashes, no more falls.

And in their cozy blanket, the two little monkeys dreamed together — of laughter, friendship, and the safety of always having someone who cares enough to run to you when you fall. 💞🐒
