I Jump Scared My Sister This Time 😝

It all started on one of those lazy Saturday afternoons when boredom hits so hard that you either take a nap or cause trouble. Guess which one I chose? Yep — trouble.

My sister, Mia, had been pranking me all week. She’d put fake spiders in my shoes, swapped the sugar with salt, and even set my alarm to go off at 3 a.m. with a clown laugh sound. I’d been patient, plotting my revenge. But today, the perfect opportunity came — and oh boy, it was going to be legendary.

The Setup

Mia is terrified of one thing: jump scares. Horror movies? She screams at the opening credits. Haunted houses? Forget it — she once cried when a guy in a skeleton mask said “Boo.” So, naturally, my plan had to involve something spooky.

I waited until she went upstairs to do her skincare routine — she always spends at least 20 minutes in the bathroom. That gave me enough time to set up my masterpiece.

First, I grabbed my black hoodie, a white sheet, and my phone. I watched a few YouTube tutorials for “DIY Ghost Costume,” and within five minutes, I had transformed myself into something between a ghost and a sleep-deprived burrito. Perfect.

Then I placed my phone near the stairway to record the entire thing. Because what’s a prank without proof, right?

Finally, I turned off all the downstairs lights and waited behind the hallway curtain, breathing quietly like a horror movie villain.

The Waiting Game

The house was completely silent except for the faint hum of Mia’s music upstairs. I could hear her singing — loudly and off-key — as usual.

“GIRL, PUT YOUR RECORDS ON…”

I couldn’t help but snicker. It made the upcoming jump scare even sweeter.

Minutes felt like hours. My heart was beating like crazy, and even though I was the one doing the scaring, I started getting creeped out by the dark too. Every shadow looked alive, every creak in the floor made me twitch.

Finally, I heard her footsteps — light and careless — coming down the stairs. I grinned.

Showtime.

The Jump Scare

Mia reached the bottom of the stairs and stopped. The hallway was pitch black, and she hesitated. “Why’s it so dark down here?” she called out.

I didn’t answer. I waited, grinning under the sheet.

She took another step. “Hello? Did the power go out?”

Still silence.

Then, just as she reached for the light switch — I jumped out, screaming at the top of my lungs, “BOOOOOOOO!!!”

Mia’s reaction was Oscar-worthy.

She screamed so loud the neighbors probably heard it three houses away. Her phone flew out of her hand, her water bottle hit the wall, and she tripped over her slippers trying to back away. For a split second, I thought she was about to summon her ancestors from pure fear.

Then came the silence.

Her wide eyes slowly focused on me — a shaking, laughing mess under a wrinkled white sheet.

“You… YOU IDIOT!!!” she yelled, still clutching her chest. “I thought I was about to DIE!”

I was laughing so hard I could barely breathe. “You should’ve seen your face! Oh my god — priceless!”

She glared at me, but even she started laughing after a while. “You’re lucky I didn’t throw something at you.”

“Totally worth it,” I said between gasps.

The Aftermath

Of course, she demanded to see the video. We watched it together on my phone, and honestly, it was even funnier than I expected. The scream, the flying phone, the dramatic hand flailing — it was comedy gold.

Mia was embarrassed but couldn’t stop laughing either. “You’re such a jerk,” she said, wiping away tears.

“Hey,” I grinned, “payback’s fair. You pranked me first.”

She rolled her eyes but nodded. “Fine. Truce. For now.”

I should’ve known that “for now” part was a threat.

The Return of the Sister Strike

Two days later, I had completely forgotten about the prank. Life was back to normal — or so I thought.

That night, I was watching a movie alone in my room, lights off, snacks in hand. Right during a creepy scene where the background music got quiet, my closet door creaked open just a little.

I froze.

I stared at it, trying to convince myself it was just air pressure or something. Then, the door opened wider — slowly — like something out of a horror movie.

“Mia?” I called nervously. No response.

I leaned forward, heart pounding. And then —

“RAAAHHHHH!!!”

Mia jumped out wearing my own ghost sheet from before!

I screamed. Not a small yell — a full-on, from-the-depths-of-my-soul kind of scream. I even spilled my popcorn everywhere.

She was doubled over laughing, tears streaming down her face. “GOT YOU BACK, BRO!!!”

I wanted to be mad, but I couldn’t. I started laughing too, even as I tried to catch my breath. “Okay, okay — fair! You win this round.”

The Family Reaction

Of course, our little prank war didn’t stay a secret for long. Mom found out when she saw the ghost sheet on the floor and asked what was going on. We showed her the videos, expecting her to scold us.

Instead, she burst out laughing so hard she had to sit down. “You two are ridiculous,” she said between giggles. “But honestly, that’s the funniest thing I’ve seen all week.”

Dad just shook his head, pretending to be unimpressed. “When you two break something, don’t come crying to me.”

But later, I caught him watching the video again on his phone, laughing quietly.

The Lesson (Kind Of)

What started as a prank turned into one of the funniest memories we’ve had in years. It reminded me how much I actually enjoy goofing around with my sister — even when we’re trying to out-scare each other.

Sure, I was the one who jump scared her first, but in the end, she got me back just as good. And honestly? That’s what made it perfect.

Now it’s kind of our thing. Every few weeks, one of us tries to prank the other — nothing too crazy, just harmless fun. Sometimes it’s a fake spider in the bed, sometimes it’s a voice message that screams when you press play.

Every time it happens, we laugh until we can’t breathe, and for a few minutes, it feels like we’re little kids again — no worries, no stress, just laughter echoing through the house.

The Final Twist

Last night, I found a note taped to my bedroom door. It said:

“Dear Ghost Boy,
You started this. I’ll finish it.
Love, Your Favorite Sister 👻💀”

I don’t know what she’s planning, but I’ve been jumpy all day. Every noise makes me turn around. I’ve checked my closet three times, and even Max, our dog, is looking at me like I’ve lost my mind.

So yeah, maybe I jump scared my sister this time 😝…
But something tells me she’s not done with me yet.

And when the lights go out tonight — I might just be the one screaming next. 💀😂
