Lala the little monkey was always full of curiosity. From the moment the sun peeked over the hills, she was already wide awake, jumping from branch to branch, sniffing flowers, poking at bugs, and watching the other animals with wide, wondering eyes. But today, something new caught her attention—something small, round, and a little wrinkled lying on the ground under a tree.

She picked it up and sniffed. Sniff sniff! It had a nutty smell she hadn’t noticed before. “What is this?” she mumbled to herself, turning it over in her tiny hands. “Hmm… it’s hard. Is it a seed? A rock?” She tapped it on a tree trunk. Tink tink! Still puzzled, she scurried over to her best friend, Thuy the duck.

“Thuy! Look what I found!” Lala said, excitedly holding out the mysterious object.
Thuy waddled over and tilted her head. “Oh! That’s a peanut!” she quacked. “Humans eat them all the time. I saw Farmer Cutis roasting a whole bag of them yesterday!”
Lala’s eyes lit up. “Roasting? What’s that?”

“It means they cook it,” Thuy explained. “Then it smells so good!”
Now more curious than ever, Lala hurried down to the edge of the farm where Farmer Cutis lived. She peeked through the open window of the kitchen. Sure enough, the warm smell of roasted peanuts floated out into the air, making her nose twitch with delight.

Suddenly, the farmer walked out with a bowl of peanuts and set them on the porch table before heading back inside. Lala crept closer, her tail swishing with excitement. She picked up a peanut and gently cracked it open—pop! Two tiny golden halves fell into her hand. She sniffed again. “Mmm… smells even better than the one I found!”

Nervously, she nibbled one. Her eyes widened. It was delicious! Creamy, crunchy, a little bit sweet. She stuffed the other half into her mouth and giggled with joy.
Just then, Farmer Cutis returned and spotted Lala on the porch. But instead of scolding her, he laughed and said, “So you like peanuts, huh?” He gently placed a few more on the step. “You can have some—just don’t eat the whole bowl!”

Lala squeaked in delight and gave a happy monkey dance. She took a few peanuts and scampered back to Thuy, proudly showing off her prize.
“I tried them!” she said, still chewing. “You were right—they’re amazing!”
From that day on, peanuts became Lala’s favorite snack. But more than that, she learned something special: her curiosity—though it sometimes got her into trouble—often led to wonderful discoveries. Whether it was a peanut, a new friend, or a fun adventure, she realized that asking questions and exploring the world was the best way to find unexpected treats.
And every time she saw a peanut after that, she’d smile and remember the day her curiosity turned into something delicious.
