It was a bright morning in the countryside. Birds chirped gently in the trees, and the air smelled like fresh grass and wildflowers. Little Bibi woke up with the sunshine on her face, stretching and smiling as she rememberedâtoday she was going to visit Grandma!
Bibi loved her grandmother more than anything. Grandma’s house was full of warm smells, soft quilts, and hidden treasures from the past. But today, something special was waiting for her. A surprise that would become one of the most memorable gifts of Bibiâs childhood.
The Journey to Grandma’s House
Bibi packed her tiny backpack with her sketchbook, crayons, and a bag of cookies for the road. Her dad helped her into the car and off they went. The drive was filled with laughter, silly songs, and spotting animals along the roadside.
When they finally pulled into Grandmaâs driveway, Bibi leapt out of the car. She dashed to the porch where Grandma stood, arms wide and eyes sparkling.
“My little sunshine! Come give Grandma a big hug!”
Bibi ran straight into her warm embrace.

Hints and Whispers
After a big breakfast of pancakes and strawberries, Grandma leaned over with a twinkle in her eye.
“Iâve got something for you,” she whispered.
Bibiâs eyes widened. “A surprise?!”
“Mmmhmm,” Grandma smiled, “but you have to help me in the garden first.”
Bibi nodded eagerly. She loved helping in the garden, digging through the soil and watering the plants. Today, the beans were ripe, the sunflowers tall, and the pumpkins were just beginning to turn orange.
The Garden Adventure
They spent the morning harvesting vegetables. Bibi picked beans and helped Grandma arrange them into baskets. She even found a funny-shaped carrot that looked like it had legs! They laughed so hard they had to sit down.
Then, after watering the tomatoes, Grandma stood up, dusted her hands, and said, “Alright, Bibi. Itâs time for your gift.”

The Mysterious Box
Back inside the house, Grandma reached into the cupboard and brought out a box wrapped in soft floral paper. A silk ribbon tied it closed.
Bibi gasped. “Is that for me?”
“It sure is,” said Grandma, setting it on the table. “Go ahead, open it.”
Bibi untied the ribbon carefully and lifted the lid. Inside was something she never expectedâa small, hand-sewn journal with her name stitched into the cover. Alongside it was a pen, a tiny key, and a folded letter.
The Secret Journal
The letter was from Grandma. It said:
“Dear Bibi,
This journal is for your thoughts, your dreams, your sketches, and your adventures. I made it just for you, so you can keep the stories of your heart safe. Write in it when youâre happy, when youâre sad, or just when you want to remember something special.
Love, Grandma”
Bibiâs hands trembled. “You made this?”
“Every stitch,” Grandma said softly. “I used to keep one just like it when I was your age. It helped me remember the magic in everyday things.”

The First Entry
Bibi opened the journal to the first page. With Grandma sitting beside her, she picked up the pen and began to write:
Today I helped Grandma in the garden. We laughed, we worked, and she gave me this beautiful book. I think this might be the best day ever.
Then she drew a picture of the carrot with legs.
Grandma laughed again. “Youâre already a storyteller.”
A Special Place to Write
That afternoon, Grandma set up a small writing corner just for Bibi in the sunniest part of the house. A soft chair, a little desk, a plant, and a tin full of colored pens made it perfect.
“Every time you visit, this will be your special spot,” Grandma said.
Bibi sat there and wrote about everythingâthe bees in the sunflowers, the pancakes, even the chipmunk that peeked at them from the fence.
Passing Down Love
Later that evening, as the sun dipped behind the hills, Grandma told Bibi stories from her own childhood. How she once got lost in the apple orchard, or the time she found a baby bird and raised it until it could fly.
“I used to write it all down,” Grandma said, pulling out an old journal.
Bibi flipped through it carefully. The pages were yellowed, but full of beautiful handwriting, pressed flowers, and sketches.
“Thatâs why I wanted you to have your own,” Grandma said. “Memories are treasures, and writing them down makes them last forever.”

A Forever Kind of Gift
As the stars came out, Bibi curled up next to Grandma on the porch swing. She clutched her journal tight.
“Thank you for the best gift ever,” she whispered.
Grandma kissed her forehead. “Youâre the real gift, sweetheart. I just wanted you to have something that helps you remember all the little wonders in life.”
Back Home, But Never Far Away
When it was time to leave, Bibi waved goodbye with a smile. Her journal was packed safely in her backpack, along with a hug that seemed to linger in her heart.
That night, in her own bed, she wrote again:
I miss Grandma already. But every time I open this journal, I hear her voice, feel her love, and remember the garden. Iâm going to write every day.

The Beginning of a Beautiful Tradition
That gift from Grandma wasnât just a bookâit was a doorway to creativity, reflection, and connection. Bibi filled the pages with laughter, tears, discoveries, and dreams.
And one day, when Bibi had a little one of her own, she knew exactly what sheâd give them: a handmade journal, stitched with love.
The End. đđ
