Bibi had never been apart from her dad for so long before. Every day since he left, she had counted the hours, the minutes, even the seconds, hoping he would walk through the door with his warm smile and strong arms ready to scoop her up. But the days stretched on, and he didn’t return.

At first, she had asked her mother constantly, “When will Dad be back?”
Her mother’s smile was reassuring, but her voice held a softness that made Bibi uneasy. “Soon, my love. He’s just busy with work.”
Bibi didn’t quite understand. Dad had always been busy with work, but he had never disappeared like this before. He used to come home every evening, tired but happy, ready to listen to her stories. But now, the house felt different—quieter, emptier.
Every night, she curled up in bed clutching her stuffed rabbit, hoping that tomorrow would be the day he returned.

A Surprise at the Park
It was a bright and breezy Saturday. The sky was a perfect shade of blue, and the air carried the scent of blooming flowers. Bibi’s mother decided to take her to the park, hoping to lift her spirits.
The moment they arrived, Bibi spotted the playground and ran towards it, her heart feeling a little lighter. She swung high on the swings, slid down the slides, and even made a new friend.
But as she played, something caught her eye. A familiar figure sat on a bench beneath the shade of a large oak tree. He was looking down at something in his hands, deep in thought.
Bibi’s heart pounded. Could it be…?

She took a hesitant step forward, then another. Her breath hitched as she finally saw his face.
“Dad?” she whispered.
The man looked up, and in that moment, Bibi knew—it really was him!
An Emotional Reunion
“Bibi!”
Dad’s voice was full of surprise and warmth. Before she could stop herself, she ran straight into his arms, nearly knocking him over. He laughed as he wrapped her in a tight hug, holding her close as if he never wanted to let go.

“Oh, my little girl, I missed you so much,” he murmured into her hair.
Tears welled up in Bibi’s eyes. “I missed you too, Daddy! Where have you been?”
Dad let out a deep sigh and gently wiped a tear from her cheek. “I had to go away for work, sweetheart. It was a long trip, and I couldn’t come home sooner.”
Bibi frowned. “But why didn’t you call more? I kept waiting.”
His face grew sad, and he cupped her cheeks. “I know, Bibi. And I’m so, so sorry. I never wanted to be away from you for so long.”

She sniffled but held onto him tightly. “You’re here now. That’s what matters.”
Her mother approached them with a soft smile. “I thought you might be here.”
Dad stood up, holding Bibi’s hand. “I wanted to surprise you both today. I hoped I’d run into you.”
Bibi’s mother nodded. “She’s been missing you every single day.”
Dad crouched down again, looking into Bibi’s eyes. “I promise, no more long trips without calling you every day, okay?”
She nodded vigorously. “Okay!”
Making Up for Lost Time
The rest of the day felt like a dream. They had ice cream together, walked along the lake, and even fed the ducks. Bibi made sure to hold onto Dad’s hand tightly, afraid that if she let go, he might disappear again.
As the sun began to set, they sat together on the grass, watching the sky turn shades of pink and orange.
Dad ruffled her hair. “You know, Bibi, I thought about you every single day I was away.”
“Really?” she asked, wide-eyed.
He nodded. “Every night, I looked at the stars and imagined you were looking at them too. That way, it felt like we weren’t so far apart.”
Bibi leaned against him, her heart finally at peace. “I like that. Next time you go away, I’ll do the same thing.”
He kissed the top of her head. “That’s my girl.”
And in that moment, Bibi knew—no matter how far apart they were, love would always bring them back together.
