What happened to Granger Taylor has remained a mystery for 45 years
A ‘genius’ who said he had been in touch with aliens vanished off the face of the Earth more than four decades ago.
On a stormy night of November 29, 1980, Granger Taylor disappeared from the Canadian town of Duncan, with the mystery of what actually happened to the 32-year-old still ongoing to this day.
Taylor reportedly left a note to his family, claiming he was preparing for a voyage aboard an alien spaceship – but promised he would return.
His loved ones described him as a mechanical whizz, having restored a car, bulldozer, abandoned train and a World War Two jet, according to CBC.
As a youngster, Taylor dropped out of school early to pursue his passion for mechanics, which is where people spotted he had a spectacular talent for fixing things.

The prodigy also alleged he could communicate with aliens, and to this end had built a life-size replica of a spacecraft from parts he accumulated from the local dump.
His sister admitted to Vice that Taylor was known to take acid a ‘few times a day’ in the lead up to his disappearance and was known for dabbling in smoking cannabis.
And then he vanished out of thin air, leaving behind a note and all his Earthly possessions to his family.
In the note, Taylor said he was jetting off on a lengthy interstellar trip for three and a half years, but apparently never made it back home from wherever he had gone.
His letter read: “Dear Mother and Father, I have gone away to walk aboard an alien spaceship, as recurring dreams assured a 42-month interstellar voyage to explore the vast universe, then return.
“I am leaving behind all my possessions to you as I will no longer require the use of any. Please use the instructions in my will as a guide to help. Love, Granger.”
His family and friends spent months searching for him, but all other traces of the missing man were nowhere to be seen.

His last note (CBC)
That is until six years later in March 1986 when forestry workers stumbled across a blast site and a wrecked vehicle near Mount Prevost, not far from where the Taylor family lived.
Police later confirmed the registration for the destroyed vehicle matched that of his Datsun pickup truck.
Some fragments of human bone and a scrap of clothing believed to be from one of Taylor’s shirts were also found at the scene, but no full body was ever found.
A coroner’s inquest determined Taylor must have been killed in the blast that had destroyed the car, concluding that he had been carrying dynamite in his truck when it went off.
It made no judgment on whether the fatal blast had been accidental or deliberate, particularly as Taylor often carried dynamite to destroy tree stumps and knew how to use it.Featured Image Credit: CBC

Shocking true story of US president who reported seeing a UFO and was convinced they exist
The 39th US President was with 10 other people when he allegedly spotted the UFO
A former US president allegedly spotted a UFO and is convinced aliens exist.
Alleged alien sightings aren’t uncommon here in the US, with many brushing them off as silly conspiracy theories or desperate bids for attention online.
But it turns out that a former president was all aboard the alien bandwagon.

Rather surprisingly, the 39th US President of the United States, Jimmy Carter, once believed he saw an unidentified flying object back in 1969 – eight years prior to taking up residency at the White House.
But despite the sighting, it wasn’t until 1973 that he actually filed an official report – and he only did so because an agency called the Men in Black sent him… oh hang on, I got that wrong.
He actually did so because an agency called the International UFO Bureau asked him to fill out a form to detail the sighting, and that’s exactly what he did.
Carter, who was in the Oval Office for just one term from 1977 to 1981, filled out the form while governor of Georgia – a role he held from 1971 to 1975.

The Democrat was later contacted by National Investigations Committee on Aerial Phenomena (NICAP), the second and final agency that asked him to type out what he had witnessed.
So, what are the circumstances of his UFO sighting?
Carter explained that he made the observation in Leary, a small town in South Georgia – roughly one and a half hours to the south of Colombus.
But he wasn’t alone in spotting it, he was with 10 members of the town’s Lions Club, and was due to give a speech.
In both forms he described the time as around 7.15pm shortly after it had gotten dark, and the meeting was due at 7.30pm when all of a sudden something in the sky caught the attention of him, and everyone who he was waiting with.

While he didn’t exactly say what he believed it was he described it as ‘the darndest thing I’ve ever seen’.
He, along with the other 10 people he was with, described the object as being ‘very bright [with] changing colors’ and was ‘about the size of the moon’.
He also wrote that ‘the object hovered about 30 degrees above the horizon and moved in toward the earth and away before disappearing into the distance’.
And it had a deeper impact on Carter than you might have thought.
In his 1976 election campaign he is alleged to have told reporters that he would make it policy that the nation would be open about unearthly things.

It is claimed he said: “One thing’s for sure, I’ll never make fun of people who say they’ve seen unidentified objects in the sky.
“If I become president, I’ll make every piece of information this country has about UFO sightings available to the public and the scientists.”
But the former US president went back on this pledge and claimed the reason he did was due to ‘defense implications’.

Scientists reveal what aliens could really look like after discovering ‘99.7%’ chance of life on distant planet
The planet is located a whopping 700 trillion miles from Earth
Scientists have weighed in on what life on K2-18b could look like.
It was recently announced that scientists believe they’ve found what they have described as the ‘strongest hints yet of biological activity outside the solar system‘.
Astromers at the University of Cambridge, UK, used data from NASA‘s James Webb Telescope and found ‘chemical fingerprints of dimethyl sulfide (DMS) and/or dimethyl disulfide (DMDS)’.
For all your non-science boffins out there — like me — DMS and DMDS are only produced by life, so the discovery of such chemical compounds has caused some excitement.
K2-18b is located a whopping 120 light years from Earth and is three times as large as our planet.
While the discovery is undeniably huge discovered, scientists are approaching it with caution as they conduct further research.
“We didn’t know for sure whether the signal we saw last time was due to DMS, but just the hint of it was exciting enough for us to have another look with JWST using a different instrument,” said Professor Nikku Madhusudhan from Cambridge’s Institute of Astronomy, who led the research.
But they remain optimistic.

Astronomers think there’s life on K2-18b (Hycean Worlds/YouTube)
“Earlier theoretical work had predicted that high levels of sulfur-based gases like DMS and DMDS are possible on Hycean worlds,” Madhusudhan continud. “And now we’ve observed it, in line with what was predicted. Given everything we know about this planet, a Hycean world with an ocean that is teeming with life is the scenario that best fits the data we have.”
In wake of the news, other scientists have weighed in on what life on K2-18b may look like.
Speaking to Mail Online, Dr Arik Kershenbaum, a zoologist from the University of Cambridge and author of The Zoologists Guide to the Galaxy, said life on the far away planet would be every different to that on Earth today.
“Even if there is an ocean on this planet it’s going to look more like what Earth looked like three or four billion years ago when life first evolved,” he said.
“So, one thing we can say pretty confidently is that the vast majority of planets that have any sort of life on them are going to have simple life on them.”
Kershenbaum continued: “By simple I just mean simple interactions and a very simple ecosystem. So, you might have organisms that capture light from the star like plants do on our planet and then, as they die and sink down in the water there might be some organisms that eat the dead creatures.
“That’s probably what life was like on Earth around two billion years ago.”
Astronomer Michael Garrett, a professor at Manchester University, also weighed in and suggested that if the star the life on K2-18b gets light from is a red dwarf then the life on the planet might have eyes that are ‘much more sensitive and larger than ours’.Featured Image Credit: NASA

The Pentagon answers ‘truth’ about whether alien life has visited our planet
Major General Pat Ryder gave a firm and ‘truthful’ answer to whether the US Government has encountered aliens
It is the question we have all been waiting for… has an extraterrestrial being ever walked on Earth?
If one organization knows the answer to that it would be the US Government, and the verdict is finally in.

On Thursday (October 17), a press conference was held at the Pentagon and Major General Pat Ryder was on hand to answer questions about some tough topics.
Some of these were the fact that North Korean soldiers are now fighting on behalf of Russia in Ukraine, Hamas’ leader Yahya Sinwar died earlier this month and artillery strikes from the American stealth bomber B-2 on five military sites controlled by Houthi forces in Yemen.
Of course, there were more subjects but they lead the daily news agenda.
Journalist Jeff Schogol of Task & Purpose, a military news outlet, took a shot in the dark and decided quite sneakily that he would use this opportunity to ask in a roundabout way whether aliens had ever visited Earth.

He said: “Given the news cycle, you could announce anything about aliens or extraterrestrial life, and no one would care.
“So… I’m just going to take the shot. What do you got on UFOs, aliens, etc.?”
Hilariously, Ryder gave a nod to the epic sci-fi series The X-Files through its tagline ‘the truth is out there’, which opens every episode, before schooling Schogol.
He said: “The truth is out there, Jeff, and the truth is, we have no evidence to indicate extraterrestrial life has visited the planet.”
So the ‘truth’ is that the US Government, the authority behind the infamous Area 51 which is regularly rumored to know a great deal about the unidentified flying objects, has never encountered alien life on Earth.
The official name of Area 51 is in fact the Nevada Test and Training Range, and it is now used as a training range for the US Air Force.
I digress.
So, what does Ryder mean when he explained that the truth is actually already out there?

A popular conspiracy theory is that a flying saucer crash landed in New Mexico baxck in 1947 and its remains were taken to Area 51 so that officials could reverse engineer the spacecraft (Getty stock)
In 2022, the Department of Defense established the All-domain Anomaly Resolution Office (AARO), created to look into the age-old question of whether aliens had visited Earth.
Following the conclusion of the investigation, a report read: “The aggregate findings of all USG [US Government] investigations to date have not found even one case of UAP [unidentified anomalous phenomena aka UFO] representing off-world technology.”
It added that ‘authentic sensitive national security programs’ were ‘mistaken’ for UFO programs.
It continued: “AARO has no evidence for the USG reverse-engineering narrative provided by interviewees and has been able to disprove the majority of the interviewees’ claims.”
So there you have it, the answer is a firm no… for now.Featured Image Credit: Getty/Win McNamee/ABC News

Scientists discover new ‘super-Earth’ six times bigger than ours that could inhabit alien life
‘Excitingly’ it’s ‘only 20 light-years’ away from us, discoverer Dr Michael Cretignier explained
Well, we could be closer to discovering whether there really is alien life out there after researchers discovered a new ‘super-Earth’ which is six times bigger than our planet and may well inhabit extraterrestrials.
Our universe is so great that there has to be life out there – I mean, it’s literally still expanding in every direction.

A team of scientists from Oxford University in England have identified an exoplanet – named HD 20794 – as far as 20 light-years away from our solar system.
It’s the right distance away from its sun to be able to hold water on the surface of the planet, but due to its orbit of the star being far more oval than Earth’s, scientists could not verify whether it could host life.
While we’re only just hearing about it, Dr Michael Cretignier, a postdoctoral research assistant in the Department of Physics at the college, actually identified it three years ago back in 2022, while looking through archived data which was recorded at the La Silla Observatory in Chile.
Although, at the time he couldn’t confirm whether or not it was a planet and so needed the help of a crew from around the globe, who worked together to analyze data over the last two decades.

“With its location in a habitable zone and relatively close proximity to Earth, this planet could play a pivotal role in future missions that will characterise the atmospheres of exoplanets to search for biosignatures indicating potential life,” Cretignier said.
“We worked on data analysis for years, gradually analysing and eliminating all possible sources of contamination.
“For me, it was naturally a huge joy when we could confirm the planet’s existence.
“It was also a relief, since the original signal was at the edge of the spectrograph’s detection limit, so it was hard to be completely convinced at that time if the signal was real or not.”
He went on to explain that ‘excitingly’, with it being ‘only 20 light-years’ away from us, there is a possibility that future missions to space could ‘obtain an image of it’.
Dr Cretignier concluded: “While my job mainly consists of finding these unknown worlds, I’m now very enthusiastic to hear what other scientists can tell us about this newly discovered planet, particularly since it is among the closest Earth-analogues we know about and given its peculiar orbit.”
His study, ‘Revisiting the multi-planetary system of the nearby star HD 20794. Confirmation of a low-mass planet in the habitable zone of a nearby G-dwarf’, has been published in Astronomy & Astrophysics.Featured Image Credit: Getty Stock Image
